I'm new here and after having browsed this website for the first 5 minutes or so, I'm still a bit confused as to occupy wall street's purpose. I understand those participating are unhappy with current political direction (or lack thereof) and corporate greed (specifically financial institutions?), but what is the goal of this cause? Are there well crafted and feasible proposed alternatives or is this just a bunch of folks venting their discontent based on their perception of the current state of both the political and financial environments in hopes their yelling will somehow make things change?

Interesting responses so far, was hoping for something a little more meaningful. The proposed list of demands consists of re-enacting legislation that no longer applies to modern day financial services, punishing a small percentage of people responsible for one of many reasons leading to the 2008 financial crisis, giving away valuable communication bandwidth for all politicians to rant at will, tax the rich (who by population subset consume the largest percentage of goods which require jobs to make), pay SEC oversight positions more and banning them from working in their own field if they decide to move on to another job...to name a few. Not exactly well thought out....

The link below is just one of many views of what this movement is about. The OWS movement means a lot of things to a lot of people. You decide what it means to you and voice your opinion, what ever it may be.

"Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%"

Purpose: "Fairness for All" (at least that my take of it)

Through peaceful tax, election and corporate reform.
