Forum Post: Need help making flyer on US Economic Inequality

I created a document citing some facts about the US economic inequality crisis. Right now it's pretty bad, and way too long (4 pages). I need a graphic artist to take this and transform it into a tri-fold flyer for easy, mass distribution. It's my strong belief that most Americans are completely unaware of the massive inequality they face, we need to disseminate this information and wake people up.

The sources I used were mainly the Economic Policy Institute, Institute for Policy Studies, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and Stanford Center for the Study of Poverty and Inequality. There's some great information there.

Alternatively, if one of you have already made a flyer, could you send it or upload it somewhere?

Not only is it your strong belief that most Americans are unaware, I would say that it can be demonstrated that are!

the authors found Americans generally underestimate the income disparity. When asked to estimate, respondents on average estimated that the top 20 percent have 59 percent of the wealth (as opposed to the real number, 84 percent). And when asked to choose how much the top 20 percent should have, on average respondents said 32 percent — a number similar to the wealth distribution seen in Sweden.

....

The authors suggest the reason that American voters have not made more of an issue of the growing income gap is that they may simply not be aware of it.

Well the document is online for download (www.scribd.com/doc/68052509/US-Economic-Inequality-1/), I was hoping to get it reorganized into something that can be printed double-sided into a flyer. I don't really have specifics other than the goal of the flyer should to be inform people about the magnitude of economic equality we live in, how real wages have stagnated, and the wealth gap is just growing more. It don't want it to have any extreme rhetoric or even suggestions on what needs to be done, it should be purely an informational flyer. Maybe with some photos or art to make it look nice.

There is also an inequality of being willing to work, being willing to develop skills that are valuable and being willing to invest your own money and sweat into a company. That is the main reason there is an inequality of wealth.

What we need to do, as OWS members, is advocate the divorce of merit from having money. Who cares if you're a brain surgeon? Its minimum wage for your ass. And if you started your own practice on credit cards and couldn't pay yourself for 6 months? Fuck you asshole. I want your money. NOW!

Great Example - Professor Sachs was just on MSNBC-Coffee Joe, last week. He made up excellent charts. Great book that seems to really focus on the REAL underlying issues.

Wow, great presentation! I'll have to find those charts he presented and add them to the list.
