We need to have some sort of definition of who the 1% are, backed up by verifiable sources. We may be alienating people who would be supporters simply because they feel they are being targeted. Here is a conversation I had with one such person just as an example.

Thank you RolK. Finally, a voice of reason. I am not talking about over-organizing. Just letting people figure out who we are really talking about when we refer to the 1% and the 99%. If these terms are inaccurate we need to drop them and use something else. Otherwise we will continue to alienate people who would otherwise support us. The person I communicated with is a victim of the corrupt corporations too, but they think they are the 1% we are attacking.

Read the thread that I linked to! Do not reply unless you do that first. Then make a comment about how to get them to understand who the 1% is.

Communication is critical. The 99% want things. There may never be total agreement on what they want, but there are clear desires. Those desires will never be addressed without clear communication. Of course some will attack those "positions"; we must simply be ready to defend them. Remember, protest and change is a lot like war, just less bloody, we hope. Bottom line, clear communication is critical to success.

no, we don't. once this is overly organized you give people a node they can use to control the protest. keep it disorganized.

People did you read the thread I linked to? You need to. That is what this thread is about. And if we are going to keep calling ourselves the 99% we need to know exactly who the 1% are. Otherwise we need to stop using 99% and 1% and call ourselves something else.

Stop being typical Americans and pay attention. Also: READ

It's not any specific people, but the system that's the problem. To change the system, we need a comprehensive strategy, and related candidate, that implements all our demands at the same time, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management system of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

We need something a little more definitive than "corporate executives". I already know that the 1% control most of the wealth. Where does the stat come from?

A work of fiction is not a credible source. We need to be credible in order to really be taken seriously and to keep from scaring away people who should be supporting us.

You guys with your flip answers do not help the cause.

If I be not mistaken, the 1% are described rather elegantly and thoroughly as LOOTERS, in the book by Ayn Rand, "Atlas Shrugged". Well worth the read !

But it's too long. And it has big words.

[-] 1 points by Freewheel (10) 13 years ago

Right. We'll have to change 'looters' to 'LU2RZ'. Will that help ?

: )

Haha!

The 1% are the economic managers of our society: corporate executives.
