I strongly believe in democracy and feel like it's being underused. When I hear people say that democracy hasn't worked for us and we should switch to socialism, it demonstrates to me that they don't understand the purpose of democracy or the root causes of the problems with which they're dealing.
Russell Brand has, more than once, advised people not to vote. I like Russell and agree with many of the things he says, but I couldn't let this non-voting thing slide. So, I wrote this...

In a nutshell, if good people aren't willing to run for public office to address our problems in a very direct way, they I call on good people to band together and collectively offer their support to a candidate who cares about them, shares their values and concerns, hasn't been funded by those whose agendas conflict with said values and, rather importantly, is looking for broad support.
I live in a country where I don't have the right to vote, so helping to facilitate this kind of thing is the best I can do. Who among you are willing to be first followers?
