I think they're starting to listen. :)
The Congressional members are all wealthy which is why they won't vote for it, (in addition to representing their well heeled constituents). Herman Cain and his 9-9-9 plan seems better. Although since the rich make a lot more than we do how about 9 percent for them and 2 percent for those in the 0-$50,000 range, and 5% for those $50,000-$100,000, 7% for those $100,000-150,000 and then 9% on anything over $150,000. Now that would be more fair.
Let Congress spend their time coming up with a balanced budget and start with getting our troops out of the 120 countries they are in now as peacekeeping forces or lackeys for other countries who don't want to be bothered managing their countries.
The problem is that the government likes to tinker in the world of social engineering. They believe they can tax us into submission and good behavior.
I don't necessarily agree with income taxation - I do agree more with a progressive marginal tax system than Cain's plain jane 9-9-9.
The most important tax, in my opinion, to remove is payroll tax. If the government believes that taxation is social engineering -- why are we taxing the creation and maintenance of jobs?

President orders all troops out of Iraq:

Well that's nice, they think they need peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan till 2025, so a little more work is needed on that.
A LOT more work. And all around the world. Why do we still need troops in Germany & Japan?

To keep us safe from terrorist, duh...
Obama's done a pretty good job of taking out the terrorists. I don't know how having troops in Europe or Asia really help with that fight.
It was sarcasm.... Actually I believe all terrorist activity is generated by CIA paid for black ops and Blackwater mercenaries. Hence why over 3 trillion dollars can not be accounted for by the Pentagon.
Our whole economy is based on a war time economy. That is why Eisienhower warned us of the military industrial complex. Since the Civil War, the US has engaged in this method:
Stimulate industry by ramping up military production. Use conflict to use military, thus producing a need for more military industrialization. Once enemy is defeated, send US contractors in to rebuild (i.e. Reconstruction of the South, the Marshal Plan, Iraq and Afganistan today). Also millitatize the occupied re to insure safety of the foreign contractors and that wealth goes where it is designed to.
If the economy begins to tank, repeat profess to stimulate growth.
How does terrorism and US spinsters terrorism fit in?
It keeps the public in fear and desirable for the military industrial complex to continue perpetuating this fraud. War ceases to be profitable when there is peace. And people are always willing to give up their liberty for security whenthey are fearful. This opens up the military industrial complex to new markets like Homeland Securiry and police.
The war on drugs and the war on terror are designed for the same purpose. Hence why we see government trying to marry the two into one war. And why the government has been exposed for running guns into Mexico for the cartels so they could supply US streets with narcotics. Why, ever since the US occupation of Afganistan, we have seen a rise there in opium production, not a decrease.
Now they use the war on drugs as an excuse to use predator drones along the border. How long until you think these drones are used on meth labs here in th US? Or on protesters? (already going on in Yemen and Bahrain under the guise of terrorism)
But I have digressed....
Agreed. The problems run so deep and are so entrenched, it' overwhelming to think about the tasks that lie ahead.
The only chain we have is for the individuals who make up the police and military to stand down. They need to refuse their orders and walk away. Don't pull that trigger for someone else. That is how Chavez cameto power in Venazaula. The dictator rderedthe millitary to fire on people, and he refused and overthrew the dictator. As long as they have an army willing to rotectthem, we are fucked. But if these citizens would stand down, then power would be back in the people's hands.
