She said this today on her show: I hate Occupy, hashtag! So much for the liberals at MSNBC
It doesn't matter at all what Melissa Harris Perry or any academic thinks or says about Occupy. If they don't get it, they don't get it. A lot of people don't get it. They will someday. And, when they do, they'll be ashamed of themselves. In the meantime, Occupy has to keep fighting for watershed change to our society, our economy and our political system.
Luv ya BW - you definitely get it. Yes the struggle does not need cheers and accolades it just needs to be done.
No. It's the last thing it needs, cheering from MSM.
I shudder to think what the corporate masters of MSM would be trying to accomplish in cheering for OWS or any other USA based movement against greed corruption and crime.
Overseas? Yeah it fits with their program of the rest of the world is fucked-up. But they would not admit that it is in many ways the same here.
Funny, Perry has been consistently (since Zuccotti Park) praising OWS. Do I smell troll?
free speech works
You bring up a name - Melissa Harris Perry - then you attribute something to that name - Who Cares?
You seem to expect some type of support from mainstream liberals like Melissa Harris Perry. Liberals are just another flavor of political puppets playing the game, for which the 1% made all the rules.
While I believe the OP is bullshit trolling, I wouldn't be so quick to malign liberals. They outnumbered anarchists on the Brooklyn Bridge and were arrested in greater numbers. They have always been a part of OWS, and OWS has been wise enough to welcome them. OWS forms alliances with liberal groups every day: Nurses unions, teachers unions, progressives and progressive organizations of all sorts who march shoulder to shoulder with anarchists. Liberals and progressives make up the overwhelming bulk of OWS supporters. I wouldn't be so quick to insult them, lose their support, and be left with a movement that wouldn't fill a thimble's worth of people.
