Each is a system of government that has been demonized because of a leader associated with it. I think it is long over due that we take a look at these systems of government again in a serious manner, not a stigmatized one.
Personally, I like socialism. I pay part of what I earn into a government who then takes what I earn and gives it to everybody so each person is taken care of. I can still be rich, yet I am still helping my fellow man, not stepping on them.
Yeah isms suck. I don't know why people keep going back to Marxism and Communism and so forth. These ideas are topics for arm chair philosophers of the 19 hundreds, not for today. We can come up with our own, better ideas which are more moderate and actually address the problems of the post-modern age. Old philosophies are rigid and create enemies easily.
Fixing the corruption is the top priority for the movement it seems.
But lets look at the systems anyway.
Every political system we've had thus far has been run via the opinion of an individual or a group. And while democracy is well intentioned in accepting the opinions of the masses, if the population is uneducated they will not make the best decision.
What has advanced society forward has been the scientific method and technological advances. If we are to prevent future mistakes at a social level then we must apply the scientific method to social concerns.
We must back decisions with evidence and facts rather than opinions.
As long as there is inequality uninformed opinions will be formed about the opposing class. As long as different nations exist uninformed opinions will be formed about different nationalities. As long as there is scarcity/poverty uninformed opinions will be formed about how to fix the problem.
The scientific method tests it's claims so mistakes are corrected before implementing decisions rather than after. We need to begin applying the scientific method to social concerns

each is a system that requires people to be forced, ultimately at gunpoint, to work for someone else. That sucks.
Stop with the "isms". The choice is between empathy/compassion for your fellow citizens and "I got mine; fuck the rest of you". Both ultra right or ultra left believe in the helping our fellow man. Only sociopaths believe in the alternative. And bankers. And maybe some of those folks on Dancing with the Stars.
We are not here to change our government type or economic system type. You will not find enough support to do either. What we are here to do is to make both systems work as intended. They are both broken here in the US. We want to fix these so they work as our founding father's intended for them to work.
Yes, both systems here are broken. But from what I have seen, it is what this movement is about, changing the government we live in. Isn't that what we are asking for? Remove the corporations from the government, reign them in, and keep them from "buying" our nation as they have been for decades. To change that, I feel the very system needs change. Still, I do agree, it is hard to find 99% support for that idea.
Not changed, regulated. But we need the checks and balances system. The government needs to be regulated by the people and the businesses need to be regulated by the government. The people are also regulated by the government.
See my suggestion here : http://occupier777.angelfire.com/
Number 4 and 5 on how to regulate the government and put the power back in the hands of the people without changing either of our current systems.
“Americans are more afraid of the word “socialism” than they are of cancer, hiv or world war III. and they will fight it to their graves ….
Neither socialism or capitalism exist in nature without the other… Alone they are mere philosophies…
