In three weeks congress will vote FCC measures to have the legal right to pull the plug on any website, forum, etc.they feel threatens national security or our government in general. This site would likely be one of the first targets. We are loosing our rights day by day.It is out of control as to what they will take control of in order to control us.Say goodbye to our peaceful protests;I feel this just may get ugly.

Obama can overrule congress/senate under the Patriot Act.Obama has been pushing for this since he entered office

This gives more power to the patriot act. That is the only good part of it.

We all knew it was coming. One good thing is that people are networking old school with pen and paper on the streets as we type.

Why would you conclude that the FCC would consider this little forum a threat to national security? That legislation was drafted and debated long before the OWS movement was even underway. Considering how sensitive we in the US are to censorship issues, the federal government would be crazy to touch this website. That statute is aimed at real deal international terrorists.

OWS protesters have been refered to as terrorists by many politicians

Well, that sort of comes with the territory when you decide to let everyone in the group speak for the group. The most extreme opinions really stand out, and some of them could be viewed as terrorist.

OWS has firmly held onto the concept of a "horizontal leadership," but the sheer numbers of it's members demonstrate why, throughout history, societies tend to elect-appoint-annoint leaders. Without a designated spokesperson, the noise from the group, indeed even from this forum is deafening and confusing. Indeed, it's seems that without some level of organization and stated goals, public patience with the group might soon reach a threshold - particularly in light of the recent DC events.

You need to identify which particular measure then we can read the text and make up our own minds. Your post comes across as unsubstantiated fear-mongering.

Read the rule that the FCC passed December 21, 2010. http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2010/db1223/FCC-10-201A1.pdf This is in support of Net Neutrality. This is what the forthcoming bill proposes to overturn. The President supports Net Neutrality and will veto the new bill if passed.

The President is on the right side of this issue. So you can relax.

What makes you think they will vote in favor of such measures?

MANY people consider these protests a "threat to our national and local security" but we're still allowing them to continue. Stop threatening people and businesses and the US government and then you'll be fine.

Removing those protest by force would be a "threat to our national and local security" however removing all protesters would be a threat also as it would cause uprisings. At least the ows is a lesser "threat to our national and local security". You should read the art of war by sun tzu
