The OWS Movement is inclusive and welcomes all. However, no matter how welcoming we are, there are things that can cause you to be evicted from our ranks.
No Violence is permitted. The OWS Movement is a peaceful one and violence of any kind is not permitted. We practice non-violent, peaceful means of protest and civil disobedience.
Inciting of violence is not permitted. As our movement grows, it is likely that conflict will arise between us and others. When acting as a Speaker, do not advocate or encourage our membership to violence. We realize that Freedom of Speech is important and will not stop you from speaking on your own... but not as a representative of our movement.
You may peaceably resist arrest or eviction, as in laying down as dead weight (i.e. letting your body go limp) but do not disrespect police or security. Do not hurl insults. Acting in a dignified manner creates much more sympathy for us than acting like an unruly mob.
Do not blatantly incite division or attempt to sow dissent among our ranks. We are an inclusive movement. We try and welcome each and every person in the 99% to join us (providing they follow our simple rules). However, if you act to push away membership via continued insults/hostile actions you will be asked to no longer participate.
We are in the right. Following the means of peaceful protest and acting in a controlled and dignified manner will win popular support and enable us to grow and further achieve our goals.
Do not shame us by acting out in violence. We are better than that.
read the book or watch the documentary The Corporation- because i bet most people dont know the difference between a Corp and a Company or business- and why they can be so distructive
watch Human Resources- get a quick history on social control/ media/ advertising/ and how it all ties into money, corporations, wall st and the fed.
Guess this was an unpopular posting... I just thought we should really come down against violence what with the upcoming "eviction"
I liked The Corporation so much I bought two copies. One for myself and one to perpetually loan to friends.
Any other docs you can recommend? I really liked, "Why we fight".
havent seen that- ill look it up...
umm.... Esoteric Agenda is what opened my eyes.I had to take it peice meal- it totally cracked my brain wide open. Of course the basics everyone has seen, food inc, what are they spraying, zeitgeist.
I also like alex jones doc but you gotta take him with a grain of salt... hes a sensationalist. i still love him. got a good heart.
And Human Resources. Set aside 2-3 good hours and get some popcorn.
If your a crier like me- take your time because at least when you read the data you set down the book... but when you watch it- the music, the images, can be overwhelming. its not a game, or movie club. im struggling with these dark days. thats why i need you guys.
