Hi, I was wondering if the idea of extending a hand of peace to the NYPD has been brought up. Are they not being brainwashed like the rest of our fear based culture? "THEY" will insist "we" are against "them." In general. I would assume that many members of the NYPD are just like the rest of us, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters trying to make a living and take care of their family. They may fear that if they don't do what they are told by the establishment there will be severe consequences. Maybe we could make a video speaking directly to them, stating our position as something not radical but fundamentally human. Or write a letter and send it to all the districts. Insist that this is a non violent protest, in every manner of communication, from the words we speak to the energy we individually put out. Let us speak and act with compassion towards them. We will triumph in the end, this is certain, but let's make getting there as unified and peaceful as possible.
I'll be waiting with my billy club and stun gun. You take over our streets, you will be tasered.
The best way to do this is by sticking to nonviolence and not picking fights with the police. Writing them letters or holding up signs isn't gong to prevent them from doing their job.
I'm all for it.
ideally, we would have other organizaitons such as labor, education, heck; even the old fucks, storming community meetings in and around manhatten(right?) and talking about this issue. but its not here yet. tactics need to be rethought.
relationship building with the cops is always a good idea, but you have to have two in a relationship and NYPD are not very nice people.
Sounds like a good idea.
I think an open letter to the NYPD placed in any New York paper that sensitizes the NYPD to the cause and demonstrates directly why this is their issue as well would do two things. It lets the public know this is a non-violent protest that speaks to all people, even those who make their living by the state.
Sign idea: WE HEART THE NYPD
Hae signs that let them know that we are there because they could not be. We represent their interests.

That could be taken ironically. Something directly connecting the NYPD to the cause would strike a better cord. "Boys in Blue are our Brothers Too" something like that
