Forum Post: Make Congress change with 2 simple steps

In order to make changes to the current system we need to think what has cause a lot of the problem. Congress is no longer the voice for the people or as the constitution states "governed by the people for the people". Instead they are influence by lobbyist which are in turned paid by special interest groups. Their decision no long reflect what the majority wants but instead THEY vote to reward those who donate large amount of money to their reelection campaigns. So the news stations are constantly stating Occupy Wall Street has no direction. So let's definite only two things. Number 1; Limit all members of Congress to one 6 year term and every 2 years a third of them are replaced with new members. This will have a major impact on how things are done at the state or national capitals. They would no longer have to worry about being reelected so more time will be spent on governing, I believe we will have to pay them well so we can attract the best and brightest but with good honest governing it would cost us less in the long run.

Number 2 Ban all members of congress from accepting any kind of gifts (ie,. cash, trips, cars, or a job when they leave office for at least 10 years)

I think if we all stood up and demanded these two things CHANGE would come. Politicians would be a voice of the people again and we would return to why this country is so great.
