Forum Post: Mainstream media is corporate propaganda arm and directs most of the US populace

The mainstream media, owned by large corporations, has devolved into a propaganda mechanism, particularly since 9/11 where, for example, at this point its taboo to say anything other than the official explanation which has been put gravely in doubt by the 9/11 Truth Movement, to say the least.
But that's just one egregious example of how the mainstream media touts the government's line that at this point is the corporations line, because they're basically one and the same these days… For example, the event of 9/11 supported the defense contractor corporations via the consequent wars and the establishment of numerous new intelligence agencies. It's similar to a Fascist regime where propaganda plays a prime roll. Also, keeping the populace ignorant such as through lack of education is key as well which the US govt is doing a good job at. Its not really clear how to subsume the mainstream media other than what we're doing here and all the alternatives on the internet, the key element that brought about the revolution and change taking place in the Middle East with the Arab Spring.

The media takes it's cues from those who have the most to lose should the people know the truth. In essence, the good ole military industrial thing thrives on war, they profit, no war, no profit, so they "buy" media and government.

Wall street does the same, as well as big Pharma, pumping out meds that we need, and meds that we don't need. The one's that we don't need are hawked by the media. Wall street right now is never mentioned by the Tea Party, since the Tea Party is engaged in class warfare against perhaps themselves, not realizing that they are workers also.

The class warfare comments from the Right, are actually an accusation against the Left, of what they are actually doing themselves to the working class, namely stripping salaries and benefits and any safety net left for old age and infirmary. Short sighted indeed, since when you create a third world country, where wealth is concentrated on the top, they become targets and have to hire guards to escort their children to school. Mexico is a great example of this.

All the elites over the ages have specialized in keeping the masses ignorant, because what better way to keep them down in order to exploit them to the fullest.

I can usually get people to see that TV is government mind control in two steps. Step 1 - do you think corporations attempt to sway your opinion or buy there products on TV? (yes of course). Step 2 - do you think big corps also have a large pull on government decisions (yes of course). Ok, now add 1 and 2 together.

"Keeping the populace ignorant" - that is exactly their strategy.

Contemporary, "dumbed-down" America constitutes in my opinion a continuing EXPERIMENT IN COLLECTIVE CRETINIZATION probably unparalleled in human history.

It reminds me of that infamous quote by a Roman Emperor who said contemptuously: "Panem et circenses.... Give them bread and games..." Meaning: Put the people to sleep - and keep them off our backs - with a few crumbs and loads of stupid spectator sports (in those days, the gladiators mostly).

Yeah cut the education spending - dumb people are easier to brain wash.
