Forum Post: Look at the root causes, not symptoms - then the clear solution will emerge: a Resource-Based Economy. ~The Zeitgeist Movement

Neither socialism or capitalism is the answer. This a false paradigm that is completely decoupled from the natural world. Corruption, corporate greed, high taxes, debt, etc. are not the problems - these are SYMPTOMS, rooted in an inherently flawed social system: the monetary economic system at large, which requires constant consumption to keep the economy afloat (i.e. "infinite growth", whereas we live on a planet of finite resources); and where social and environmental well-being are always secondary to the monetary concerns.

To understand the real solution, rather than ask "Do we have the money?", we need to ask "Do we have the resources?". And we have the food to feed everyone on Earth, clean renewable energies to last thousands of years, and incredible technologies that could raise the standards of living of everyone on Earth beyond what we can even imagine today. Again, the only thing stopping us is the monetary economic system (this includes any conception of a monetary system, whether based on fiat currency or gold standard, since they all produce an incentive for corruption, environmental neglect, and war).

Therefore, we need a system that's actually BASED on efficient / sustainable resource management, rather than the pursuit of profit / monetary acquisition. This could be termed a "Resource-Based Economy", which provides an access abundance of goods and services to all people on Earth without the need for money, credits, barter or any other medium of exchange or form of servitude.

You've completely missed the train of thought denoted in my original post. We need a system in place that is designed to do all those things you mention "to help create a world full of fresh food, pure water...". The monetary system is incapable of doing so because the goal becomes money-driven, rather than intelligent resource management and optimized human & environmental well-being. A Resource-Based Economy is designed to do exactly as you've stated, and if you inquire into it, you may see the logic inherent in it. You can't just wish for a better world, you must provide a system that enable it. This is what the RBE does.

It is all very simple. Buy land and plant a garden. If you already have one buy them for your friends and family. If you are a government allocate land plots for people. 1 hectare, 1 family. The fundamental thing is to learn from nature and the design. For example in nature the soil is always covered with leaves or grass which protects against soil erosion and drought. http://www.backtoedenfilm.com

Only elect people who have a family food garden. Take control of local government.

You seem to be immune to logic (not that that's uncommon), but try actually reading and processing my post, and the associated links therein. Cheers.

I have read your post and described simple actions to take. Did you know that the best water comes from natural sources? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3ZUe54fVHI

Abundance comes from the garden since:

"Biodiverse Systems are More Productive

Compared with the average of the single best species in monoculture, the 16 species plots had 39% greater aboveground biomass and 42% greater total biomass on average for 1999 and 2000. Moreover, 16-species plots in 1999 and 2000 had 2.7 to 2.9 times greater aboveground and total biomass than the average for all species in monoculture. The positive effects of diversity on productivity strengthen through time." http://permaculture.org.au/2008/09/23/biodiverse-systems-are-more-productive/

I only support the monetary system or technology in creative actions. To help create a world full of fresh food, pure water, living environments and healthy relationships. We don't need a robot to wipe our arses and need to keep the focus on what we really need. Support our petiton! http://www.petitiononline.com/SoLMag/petition.html

Only certain resources are needed such as fresh food, pure water, a living environment and healthy relationships. Some actions are creative and others destructive. For example the mining of metals in one part of the earth can destroy the lands of the people living there and deprive them of their true needs and for no benefit to the recipients of the destruction. The true needs of Man Kind should be our focus. Nature is our greatest teacher and the priority should be family food gardens, freedom and life since the technocratic system is destructive. http://www.petitiononline.com/SoLMag/petition.html

I'm not sure what you mean by "our technocratic system is destructive". Technology in itself is not destructive - it's how technology is used. And under a monetary system, it will inevitably be abused and misused, so this is why people fear technology. Science and technology are what has advanced mankind to where we are today, not politics, capitalism or religion.
