Forum Post: LiveStream Chat Moderators Bad Face for Movement.

The chat rooms on the streams are a great public relations tool. That is how we get our info on the movement. We do, however, feel that some of the moderators are too heavy handed. We have seen people banned for little or no reason. While I do not envy the moderators their job, I feel that they have become a type of club unto themselves. Some of them seem to enjoy exercising their authority a little too much. While a slip up is understandable on occasion, if you have 12 moderators banning 30 people an hour for 24 hours, you have banned 8,640 people. If you do that for 30 days, you have banned 259,200 people. Many of those would have been bots, trolls, and douchebags anyway, but if only 20% were banned for no good reason, then you have lost 52,000 supporters. I tried to point this out to Gwenus, and FLmom, but I was banned for it. lol

This movement is looking more and more Stalinist, in it's propaganda machine. Resembling the MSM?

We have encountered moderators in the live stream chats that seem more oppressive than the police. lol They ban people from the rooms for asking simple questions. It's like some of the moderators are just fat bitter housewives, with nothing better to do than sit online all day, terrorizing the chatters. (Floridamom - Gwenus) It is a bad face for the movement. Those chats are the public face of OWS for many of us.

Me too, Feathergirl.

I'm not offended, just disappointed. People are calling other people crude names and then make excuses for themselves. Anything worth anything is incredibly difficult. Life doesn't care if you are tired or the holidays are coming. Doing something worthwhile keeps us working hard no matter what. This cause is exceptional in it's importance and all of us have to come together regardless of personal disagreements or any obstacle for that matter. Keep strong and forgive each other and move forward. That is my fervent hope for all of us. I wish the best for each and every one of the 99%. Never fear my support will not waiver. Love to you and all who are having a difficult time right now...just keep going.

I like it. Well stated, Feathergirl.

The public face of OWS has now surfaced on the Livestream chat? Wow, because the chat now sounds like a looney bin with no one taking their meds. You think you have alienated 52,000 possible supporters by the previous Moderators' behavior? I don't know about that but you have certainly alienated several 'hard-core' supporters like me who actually spent some time and money sending supplies and $$ to the 118A Fulton Street. I do have enough life experience to understand that the cause is more important than personalities...but I will be donating my time and efforts to Occupy places closer. I have lost respect for the NY movement. The WHOLE movement is still of vital importance. No thanks to you and your vision of the world with no grey tones. Remember that when you call people names. We are all on the same side in the end.

You are correct about the NYC guys. I think they are burned out, or something. They really seem to have slipped. They have crazy looking people talking about either crazy things, or silly things. Maybe they will catch a second wind. Gonna be hard with holidays coming on.

I am very supportive of the movement. I was trying to address the issue of censorship of questions and ideas in the chats and forums. I have accomplished my goal. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but no one paid attention when I was civil.

Gwenus & FLmom, both moderators in the OccupywallstNYC & GlobalRevolution Livestream Chat rooms respectively, SUCK & HAVE BALL WARTS!
