We need to be better represented. Lobbying must be stopped

i want to show everyone, as in the allegory of the cave, in Pluto's book, "The Republic", how i have become enlightened, and you should see what's out of the cave as well, just don't try to think that i am going to change your reality

I am someone, who wants the people to be in the utmost possibility, equal, and to achieve that, we need to stop making it hard for the poor, and make it semi okay for the rich, I also believe in the constitution, and it also makes a decree, that: If a government is unjust to its people, then the people have the right to overthrow its rule, but please don't take it as some way of declaring Civil War, or even Revolutionary war, I need to graduate from high school, and get some property, so that way, i won't be involved if it were to get extremely out of hand, but listen to me, is it right to put others in danger for your own just cause, lets refer to the scene in mocking jay, where there is a clinic, and it's the place where she says that she's lost her child (even though there's not really a child) and they mourn for her child's death, but afterward, the Capitol sends in the bombers, and one crashes into the clinic, now listen, you have to be smart, i'm going to be creating an underground place that will be perfect for refuge, and my design is flawless, i just need a lot of funding, the place is going to be in the northwest, in between Cheney Washington, and Tyler Washington.... wow, i can't believe how much it resembles district 13....... anyway, it's going to have room for 48 occupants, and even more if there has to be, i am the tutor of plato, or at least, someone who resembles the ideas that Socrates had, i believe in justice, i believe in the mind, and i believe in the heart, i also believe in the physical, now, I need 48 volunteers, all will be set to work, we will pool all of the money, and vote on what to spend it on, like things that we actually need, and not give up any valuable money to those rich bastards, I really hate how this government turned out, it could have been great, but, it is failing its people, just be smart, and delay your actions for some time now, and i can show you humanity in its perfect form, viva metropolis, a time where everything can be perfect, in my place, there shall be places to study, places to work/invent things, and a place for exercise, i can show you the world, and i can even show you how much we can share of it, it's our world, and i really want to show you, how beautiful that it is, i want to show you, what the world will become, come with me, and i can show you, everything. forever sincere, TutorOfPlato

Mine are simple and summed up in two quotes:

"For every wealthy man there must be 500 poor" -- Adam Smith, "The Wealth of Nations"

“The big lie about capitalism is that everyone can be rich. That’s impossible. Capitalism works only if the vast majority of the population are kept poor enough to never quit working, are kept poor enough to accept distasteful jobs society cannot function without. If everyone were a millionaire, who would empty the trash or repair the sewers? It follows that the poorer the general population is made, the greater the worth of the money held by the wealthy, in terms of the lives which may be bought and sold with it.” -- Michael Rivero

We have ceased to be the United States of America and have become the Corporate States of America. Corporations have been awarded the status of personhood (Dartmouth College v Woodward, 1819 and Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, 1886) which, while limited in the scope of these decisions, has been steadily widened to the point where it is (legally) possible that a corporation could conceivably stand for and win election to the White House.

Legislators on all levels of government no longer listen to nor regard as important -- beyond the need for their vote -- the voices of the public and prefer instead to heed the words of those who fill their campaign coffers and line their pockets through lobbyist perks.

Corporations -- in true Friedmanesque philosphy -- do not care about public welfare or responsibility and consider individuals as no more than revenue streams and marketing subjects.

Personally, I am sick and tired of being owned by the Corporate States of America. I want MY country back and I want it to belong to real humans, not coporations.

Like a boss. Finally, someone who isn't afraid to say that capitalism is the problem. We need more people like you, and we need a worker controlled economy. Yep, socialism.

I am so there with you! Thanks for the encouragement!

I support those that are here to listen and learn. They are here to offer their views and experiences and do so while listening to others.

I oppose those that come here with an agenda. They wave their web pages in your face with their solution and are unwilling to discuss other viewpoints.

I remain neutral on whether this moment will prove to be beneficial for the 99% it claims to represent or is an absolute waste of time.

[-] 1 points by IndyGuy (81) 13 years ago

Neutral.

I will not support anything until I know exactly what are the specific goals, the specific agenda, and the prospective outcome.

I will not support anything until I know who exactly are the people involved in a leadership role in an organization and/or movement and their backgrounds.

I will not support anything unless there is financial transparency. Meaning ... I want to know who is funding said organization or movement (At least politicians and non-profits are required by law to disclose the names of funders and donors).

All we are saaaayyyyying is give peace a chance....

[-] 1 points by MichaelMoosman (48) from Murray, UT 13 years ago

Strongly Support - I feel good when I stand up for something that is so obviously right. Wealth inequality in this country has increased. It is becoming obvious that capitalism in this nation isn't working properly when 3 of the top 5 fortune companies are oil companies, when banks are too big to fail, when corporate lobbyists have a greater impact on politics than the American people. I want a country where you become rich because you work hard, smart, and fair, not because you were better monopolizing the market while you screw your employees. I don’t understand how people can be against us unless they are part of the problem. Do they not see that there is a problem? Do they think that our government would work better under the control of corporate interests? Do they think that it can only be the fault of the unemployed when the unemployment rate is at 9%?

[-] 1 points by nickmuddy (5) 13 years ago

Hoorah! some who gets it.. now write the agenda for recovery. I'd call it Magna Carta II.

Limit the power and size of government per the original constitution and bill of rights and of corporations. Take away the corporations status as an "individual" and then the executives become personally liable.

[-] 1 points by looselyhuman (3117) 13 years ago

Support. Social and economic justice and a stable, prosperous society that will survive these troubled times.

[-] 1 points by RantCasey (782) from Saginaw, MI 13 years ago

Honestly I agree with the movement to ruin the lives of trolls like nipperling hahaha blkflg hornet. I'm personally trying to ruin there lives. It has nothing to do with trying to get rid of corporate and political corruption. I do it so I can be called a dirty hippy. I do it because I like being called jobless when I work 80 hours a week. I do it for them. Because the more they call me names and the less substantial argument they have. The more I know this protest is steam rolling them. They are quivering in there boots

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 13 years ago

Because lots of things are really screwed up. Is that philosophical?

The ship is caught in the rapids and is about to plunge headlong over the falls. If we all don't grab an oar quick and start paddling our asses off we ain't never gonna make it to the bank in time.

Unified humanity, through understanding that money is a man made commodity that is not necessary to live, or even real. The value of money is an illusion, as well as a belief system. My hope is that the world will understand sooner or later that this small pathetic rock we call earth is utterly fucking alone and if we don't pull our heads out of our asses soon, This world is going to crumble. The way this world is living right now, survival for any length of time (in the grand scheme of things) is a scientific impossibility. We have the scientific know how, personal ingenuity, and physical elbow grease to propel ourselves through time forever. It just needs to be a priority. If the world does not begin to see that cooperation the likes that has never been seen before does not happen, we will fail. These dark times are coming, and i believe sooner than most think. Most certainly in my lifetime. I love the american way of life, i love my guns, i love to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles and burn petroleum. Put my foot down and scream down the highway. We've had a good run, but we have to change, NOW.! Time marches on, and the mathematical and scientific obstacles we are faced with do not stop either, but rather grow exponentially, with the population. I hope OWS and all occupy movements can open the eyes of the world, as it has for myself. Truth be told i am still a slave, but my eyes are open. I hope more people will wake up, so we can be most advanced civilization the solar system, and possibly the universe has ever known. As our understanding of our home (the universe around us) will be our only salvation.

[-] 2 points by April (3196) 13 years ago

Now thats some philosophy! My answer was - lots of things are really screwed up. But I like yours too!

[-] 1 points by Abridge3141 (117) 13 years ago

But why should we seek to outlive this crisis?

[-] 1 points by freeflyer22 (49) from Portland, OR 13 years ago

I think that is a question you have to answer for your self. My highest dream above all is to go to space, i would like to see the beginning of the next great age of mankind, I also feel it is our destiny. Humanity's consciousness is simply the universe looking back at itself and saying, "what am i?"

[-] 1 points by Abridge3141 (117) 13 years ago

I was simply asking why? A question we should all be asking ourselves.

[-] 1 points by freeflyer22 (49) from Portland, OR 13 years ago

As in what should motivate us to do so?

[-] 1 points by Abridge3141 (117) 13 years ago

The purpose of our existence, the reason for us being here..if it matters not that why resist?

[-] 1 points by freeflyer22 (49) from Portland, OR 13 years ago

i never claimed that it didn't matter.

[-] 1 points by Abridge3141 (117) 13 years ago

Lol but yeah seriously..I liked your statement "humanity saying..who am I"

To see the ultimate form of democracy use our first constitutional right, article 5 of the constitution. This is the only way any demand will be met.--

Congress is very afraid of an Article 5 because congress has no control IF 3/4 of the states are ratifying Meaning, we need to stay in our states and make the demand for an article 5. We only need 2 more states then congress is in OBVIOUS violation of the constitution and the military, YES, the military will have to defnd the constitution. -

If the state won't, apply, you are looking at a state controlled at key points by the nwo- jack up the pressure! talk about "lawful government" a lot and cite violations of laws on a federal level that impair the states constitution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_to_propose_amendments_to_the_United_States_Constitution "Congress acted preemptively to propose the amendments instead. At least four amendments (the Seventeenth, Twenty-First, Twenty-Second, and Twenty-Fifth Amendments) have been identified as being proposed by Congress at least partly in response to the threat of an Article V convention."

Our first right in our contract is Article V, the right to have congress convene delgates when 2/3 of the states have applied for an amendatory convention.

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.-------

Im involved simply because the people of this country are, mostly, horribly misinformed has to what is going on, and where we are heading.

It is a teaching opportunity. Will it bring great change? Who knows.

Will I know that I participated? Yes.

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 13 years ago

What do you think people are misinformed about? What do you know that you think others should know?

[-] 0 points by jgriff (6) from Tampa, FL 13 years ago

Divisive gov strategies, globalization- causes and policies, monetary policy, housing crash reasons and causes, etc....

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 13 years ago

yeah. My answer to the question was, lots of stuff is really screwed up.
