The second amendment has been so misrepresented as to be unrecognizable from its original meaning and intent. It was written to assure the slavers of Virginia that they could organize their white population to hold the Black people enslaved by force in perpetuity. The whites were a minority in the slave states overall and the second amendment was never conceived to arm the majorities in those states.
