I hope that this initiative is not a "gang". I understand your frustration entirely but it won't help any to make an us-versus-them situation out of it. If we can help it, we must remain calm and logical so that we are able to find the best solutions and communicate our message effectively.

By talking to the people who disagree with us we have an opportunity to change their minds and their hearts and that is a very important thing. We need to not dehumanize people. If we can respond positively and without aggression to people who disagree with us, we will have made an impression and perhaps that will aid in a change in their perspective over time. By making this or that group into "bad" people, we're really doing ourselves a disservice ultimately. We all are interconnected even if the way in which we are connected is not completely apparent. The only way to change people's minds and hearts is to keep talking to them and be respectful and logical while doing so.

Its more of a realization of this .This mans issue is caused by cost.Cost of living.A cost that has been driven up by the federal reserve.A cost that was driven by outsourcing jobs.By new day to day needs.Electricity water power Phone internet.Paying not into our own job and economic system but to companys who make all their components in other countries and none of their own in america. So as consumers our government has tricked us into buying into other countries through FTA's they have tricked us into high debt and tricked us into buying into lending institutions that benefited from the fed involvement.

I'd say you have too man bills. Reduce them asap.

Can you elaborate on your bills a bit? You don't have to get too personal -- but when I think of bills, here's some of what I look at on a monthly basis.

Mortgage - a loan that I signed and am contractually obligated to pay. Can remove by selling home and renting (but still have a necessary bill for shelter)

No car payment. I won both of my vehicles free and clear, but if I had a car note bill, again, it would be a contractual obligation I accepted.

Home/Auto Insurance - necesseties for my home and auto ownership.

Cable/Internet - not a necessity. Wouldn't miss it. I don't watch TV (except college football on Saturdays) and I can go to any number of locations in my city to use free WiFi at various hot spots.

Cell phones - not a necessity. Wouldn't miss it. Could use a TracPhone (or use other pay as you go service).

Electric - I guess I can let it lapse and live in the dark. Would make it suck as it got colder in the winter and hotter in the summer - but I could make do. There are plenty of meals I could eat that would store and prepare without electricity.

Water - Same as electric since my water comes from a well. I could go to the local YMCA for a shower.

Sewer - I don't pay because I have a septic tank, but I do pay a company to come and drain my tank periodically.

Student Loans - paid off.

Kid's college - they each have college funds that my wife and I (and our parents) have contributed to.

Credit Card bills - None. I pay cash for everything. I do have a Visa and a MasterCard but I carry no balances on them and I reserve their usage for emergency purposes only.

I won't get into food and gas and other consumables, but they factor into my budget as well.

I'm 37 years old and I have contributed a significant amount of money toward several tools I have setup for retirement including Life insurance, Roth IRAs, and CDs. We are a single income family (mine) and 7 years ago, I was 38K in debt. I'm not "rich" or making a super large amount of money. I contribute to charitable organizations, but up until 5 years ago, I made approximately 40k per year (now I make more) and 3 years ago, I finished paying off all of my debts.

If bills consume you, then there's a good chance you are not budgeting your money properly (that's not always the case, but in most cases it is). I suggest reading some of Dave Ramsey's books to learn how to prioritize spending and consider meeting with a budget counselor to find out how to make your money go further.

Best wishes to you. I don't know how "bringing the rich bastards to their fucking knees" is going to help you with your own financial plight though... If you demonize the rich to that extent (they are by no means angels), then you will serve no real purpose and you will be a detriment and not an asset to the whole OWS movement.

One of the best expressions of frustration I've seen on this forum. lol

I'm with you.

If you're paid well then perhaps its your lifestyle that you should be upset with.

I am paid moderately, lower middle class. I drive a 13 year old car, don't have a HD tv, don't go out to eat a lot, grow some of my own food, don't have cable. I manage to save enough to make investments that are returning an average of 15% annually even in this economy.

My bills are: Rent, Car Insurance, Phone, Electric, Internet, and a JCPenney card whenever I shop there because I get extra discounts when I use it. I pay off the JCPenney account in full every time. I used to have student loans but paid them off 5 years ago.

WE ARE RICH BECAUSE WE WORK HARDER!!! Get it Moron?! Your problem is not us, you exist because of us. Had it not been for us you would not have a job. Your want to get rid of your problems? I'll give u 3 formulas:- Formula 1: Earn More, Spend Less!!! Live within your means sucker. Why the hell do you get these bills? Coz you are spending above your means. Get your expenses down, cut down your unnecessary spending.

Formula 2: STOP COMPARING!!! So what if your neighbor has a better car and goes to Hawaii for his vacations, no one is asking you to follow suit. Live life for yourself not for others.

Formula 3: LEARN HOW TO GROW RICH!!! Rather than lamenting about us, understand how to join our league

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 13 years ago

What a rigged argument! lol

You're assuming he works less than you do and you're assuming he also spends outside of his means. You have no idea what his particular situation is.

unless your like Part of the WTO or like IMF where your part of that supper conglomerate that incorporates most of the 1percent.Then you can keep your money .
