Looking at the US society, I wondered last night how many of us the 99% are greedy, materialistic, lairs, cheaters and all we charge the 1% to be in our daily life? How many of us waste resources. How many of us are spoiled? How many of us hurt others mentally or physically? How many of us only care about ourselves and not our brother?

We are pointing a finger at the 1%, but have we looked within and at ourselves? What example are we giving?

Read the Rules

I personally can say I have not bought a politician's favor for personal gain, ever. I have never employed a lobbyist in Washington to drive an agenda beneficial to me financially. I never took an inside role in writing regulations which govern the way I do business, in order to incorporate loopholes in those rules which would benefit me.

But yeah, it's true I have thrown some plastic bottles in the regular trash and bought a smartphone and I ate a grape grown in Argentina this morning so yeah, I see your point....

I think it is wrong to judge people (the 1%) as a group. That is the definition of bigotry. There are many in the 1% that give time and money to others in need. I know because I worked in a children's hospital and some wealthy families gave a great deal to the hospital and even volunteered at events. They often do more good works through charity than the government would do if they took their money.

Each person must decide that for himself how they can contribute to a better world. As you live each day ask "what am I doing to help others." That is the only way to improve society. Time and time again governments have failed in that endeavor. One system replaces another and corruption sets in. It is up to us as individuals to make a difference.

When I refer the the 1% I refer to the corrupt institutions that are in place working against the interests of the people of this country (and rather pursuing globalized profits). There are plenty of 1%ers doing their part to help. The problem is with those that are acting to the contrary and the power they have to do so effectively (and with astronomic consequence). The problem has many facets and simply fixing things top-down will not be the cure all. We need to be conscious of our individual actions and financial transactions on a daily basis. Help a neighbor, research a law, write a letter, cast a vote.

I suspect many of us are involved in "corruption" on a daily basis in one form or the other that have negative effects on society as a whole.

That may be true. No one is perfect. What we need to assure is that the people that are in power are there because they have proven they can supersede what the average person is capable of. A leader needs to offer a degree of self-sacrifice to lead by example. If the world is depending on your actions and you swear to do right by them, you must bind yourself to a higher level of accountability. On the other of the coin, we as the citizens of this nation need to be more involved and make better choices on who we allow to lead us.

I don't have any sin. I also have stones. I'm spoiled, too. Slightly greedy and materialistic. Other than that I'm Jesus.

That is a very good point. I see that within the 99% are another percentage of people that are more a part of the problem than the solution. It all comes down to what kind of country/world WE are creating every day by our choices Are they selfish choices or generous choices. the result will be the world YOU create.

When the effect of ones actions is equal, that is a good idea. The greater your power the greater the effect of your actions the greater the need to be held accountable.

Yup... you are either giving, selling, getting robbed, receiving, buying, or robbing someone in every transaction.
