The democrat and republican parties supposedly have two different agendas, but the truth is that BOTH want bigger government and both rob us of liberty and money. Left/Right is the welfare/warfare state.
The 1% is much better able to control the 99% if the 99% is fighting amongst themselves about who is a tea partier, who is a left wing liberal, who is a hippy, a right wing christian, black, white, asian, hispanic, young, old, etcetera.
Right versus Left is like Coke versus Pepsi. Blue team versus red team. If your 'team' is in office, then it seems like we won and our vote matters. But I submit that the vast majority of our public officials are 'bought' and no matter which political stripe they have, there's very little difference between the two.
Is anyone wondering why the agenda of the country hasn't changed (actually it looks much worse because of the economy and wars) with Obama in the White House as opposed to Bush? With a republican majority versus a democratic majority?
Government can be good. Read up on the New Deal. Government pays for our public schools, police, our mail, paving our roads, social security, medicaid, medicare, the list goes on. We need to reclaim it to work for the people, not against it.
Just remember when the "government" pays for something, it comes from your money. We pay for all this shit ourselves, well that's the idea, lately we just kick the can. Anyways getting off topic... the gov doesn't pay for anything the people it takes money from do. Or they just print it, having the same affect on you as if they just took some of it.
So... what are you proposing we reclaim? Our money they took to fund the things your think are good? What the hell are you talking about?
You can see it even in the media - Fox is for the conservatives, CNN is for the liberals. Right now they are all trying to paint OWS with a left-liberal brush. However I think it is too diverse for that.
agreed.
Great post. Someone once said that they're really just different factions of the same party: the party of business.
Agreed.
Corporate business, not small business - though they both try to claim they are champions of small business. John D. Rockefeller famously said, "Competition is a sin". Corporations own politicians and write the legislation that crushes small businesses (and individuals as well).
Let's not let them divide us any longer. We're done playing the games and we're out to take power in the hands of the people, in accordance to the principles this nation was founded on.
Absolutely. It's a two-headed monster in D.C.
Amen! Enough Us vs. Them, sports team rhetoric. Do your part! Reach out to people across the aisle! Find common ground and WORK TOGETHER!
Ive been stating this for the pass 12 yrs. Both parties are under the sheets together. I know Pres. Obama means well with the job bill and his other programs, but he's got some pretty ugly disrespectful people sitting on The hill. They mean to tear him down and the country with it. Now we got the fight in us. We The People are Out of our comfort zone. We see. We take action. WeThePeople will not be serfs for that horrible congress bought out by wall street and the banks. See you at Freedom Plz Oct 6,2011.
The ugly, disrespectful "They" that mean to tear him down are part of the whole damn machine, the same machine Obama is a part of. There is no difference between the two sides. Behind closed doors they are patting each other on the back and smoking cigars together with the CEO's who are funding their campaigns.
Im an Independent. I got some strong facts, the first one I stated. Both parties are in the bed together. I think Obama thinks outside the box,and both parties got scared. Obama is more intouch with We The People, which is why he has tried to be bypartisin with the jobs bill. Of course Im am well aware that he is bought, but not totally. Im not to far from the politico arena. Been watching it for along time.
My biggest problem with Obama is that he lied about the wars. He said repeatedly on the campaign trail that he was going to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead, we are now waging war/drone bombing no less than 7 countries. Syria, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, and now they are gunning for Iran, too.
Why isn't anyone calling him on the carpet on this? And liberals are supposed to be the anti-war party.
See ya at Freedom Plz. Im checking out . Gotta save my energy for THE HILL.
Hey I agree with you about the wars. If we didnt have the wars we wouldnt have some of this debt that now lays on the backs of WeThe Poeple. I can't say he lied, but remember this Pres. Obama is a politician...like all the rest of them. Politicians talk out of both sides of their mouths. You know this...right?!
Ofcourse, but the wars is one of the big reasons that people voted for him. They believed him when he said he would bring the troops home, and not continue (escalate!) the sham war on terror.
