Lech Walesa, Nobel Prize winner and former Polish President, has commented on the Occupation of Wall Street, warning of a "worldwide revolt against capitalism" if the protesters are ignored. His comments were in response to a letter he received on behalf of the Occupiers. This is a historic achievement of connection with the man who led the Solidarity movement in Poland, a social movement of civil resistance which reached 9.5 million members in 1981, led to the establishment of democracy in Poland, as well as being a vastly significant step in dismantling Soviet imperialism. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/2011/10/11/2011-10-11_lech_walesa_former_nobel_prize_winning_and_polish_president_warns_of_revolt_agai.html

From where he started his movement, he wanted to break the grip of a totalitarian system. His struggle was not about introducing capitalism. If he turns up at OWS now, it means: this system is no less of a tyranny than the one I fought many years ago and it must be taken down just the same.

Did he not lead the fight for capitalism in Poland? Did he not fight to turn govt. jobs over to profiteers and or investors? And are polish unions any better off after his influence? This "world wide revolt" is a threat to Lech or does he welcome it? The Wall Street media raised him on a pedestal, they saw a chance to exploit Poland, by buying up Polish industries at a bargain. Great to see so many others seeing Lech for the traitor that he was to the working class.

No to your provocative questions. Walesa did not fight for capitalism in Poland. He fought against the social and economic injustice.

Lech Walesa led his country away from socialism and Marxism into a representative republic and capitalism.

I don't think he understands the fact that most of the OWS protesters want to move our country away from a representative republic and capitalism into socialism and Marxism.

Not all of the protesters want to move towards socialism and Marxism

Indeed he does NOT understand it and why should he, as it is pure bullshit!

He's still alive? Good for him.

He lives! And he is more alive than the zombies currently running the blood-spattered White House.

GREAT NEWS, but don't stop there... I'm sure the likes of Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama and many others would have some interesting comments to make on the Occupation of Wall Street.

And it would be great to get the support of OTPOR, the student organization that brought down Milosevic and so wisely counseled the organizers of the Orange Revolution.

just FYI, the "orange revolution" also originated in Poland. I was a part of it. Check "orange alternative" in wikipedia. The article is mostly correct.

Or go straight to the Orange Alternative site: http://www.pomaranczowa-alternatywa.org/index-eng.html

Note that the article simply says that one must figure out what to do about the protests. He did not state his support for their message. This guy led his country TO democracy. This movement now asks for his help to turn their country FROM democracy. Weird!

You have understood NADA. This country has been hijacked by CRIMINALS and the Movement seeks to RESTORE democracy and the rule of Law.

The OWS protesters are actually the quintessential American heroes. The new Sheriff has arrived in town... Watch out!
