Dear students, friends and colleagues:
Thought you might be interested in this piece of mine, which gives a good overview of the Wall Street crisis: “Lawyers, Guns & Money: Wall Street Lawyers, Investment Bankers and Global Financial Crises, late 19th to 21st Century,” Nexus: Chapman University Journal of Law & Public Policy, Special Issue on “The 80th Anniversary of the Great Crash of 1929: Law, Markets & the Role of the State,” 2009-2010, Volume 15, pp. 119-133 http://www.tni.org/paper/lawyers-guns-and-money-wall-street-lawyers-investment-bankers-and-global-financial-crises I read yesterday that the publisher of The Occupied Wall Street Journal is a big fan of my late mentor, Giovanni Arrighi, notably his book, The Long Twentieth Century: Money, Power & the Origins of Our Times (2010, 2nd revised edition), which is the best longue duree account of the current crisis. We had a nice occupy wall street/san diego rally yesterday, which I spoke at, which was quite spirited.
Best,
Tom Reifer
I started skimming it. Downloaded the pdf. I needed a piece like this to fill in some reading I am doing.
Thanks Tom, I will read your paper
