Kucinich: “NATO Talks a Sham: War in Afghanistan is Not Ending”

by Rep Dennis Kucinich Global Research, May 23, 2012

“Washington, May 21 – Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today released the following statement as world leaders meet in Chicago for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.

“The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is not a benevolent organization. NATO is not about the North Atlantic and it’s not about our collective defense.

“NATO is a cost-sharing organization that finances aggressive military action. By hiding behind the claim that the organization provides for ‘common defense,’ NATO allows us to wage wars of choice under the guise of international peacekeeping. The most recent example was the unconstitutional war in Libya where NATO, operating under a United Nations mandate to protect civilians, instead backed one side in a civil war and pursued a policy of regime change.

“Today, NATO leaders are meeting in Chicago to discuss the future of Afghanistan. The talks are being billed as discussions of plans to end the war. The war in Afghanistan is not ending. These talks are simply about financing the next phase of the war…”

I beleive Dennis Kucinich.

I don't see NATO abandoning Strategic Planning on a whim. Of Course NATO must have new statements of 1) Mission 2) Vision 3) Objectives 4) Major Goals to fit into it's new role for Banks, Corporations, and Wealthy Individuals.

NATO makes people feel like our country isn't apart of whatever NATO does. It's easier to get away with wars of aggression that way.

I just bought a book of Kucinich's speeches on Amazon yesterday. I can't wait til it gets here!

Dennis is my hero!

If Kuncinich wasn't such a nutcase, his words would have more weight. He has been right on so many issues, but his personal life have relegated him to the footnotes of history. He is right on this issue as well, but since he will be out of a job soon, no one will listen.

I think, it is more that he is made to look like a "nutcase."

Bingo !! Anyone who makes any sense today is labelled a nutcase. Right is wrong and wrong is right. Enough to make you go cross-eyed. Politicians trying to stop the insanity are ostrasized. The subterfuge and propaganda is rampant. >,<

Yes our present predicament is a sign of how easily people are swayed by a corrupt corporate owned news media. Chomsky wrote about it in his book Manufacturing Consent. Part of our job has to be to get people off this 'mush.' It is both amazing, and heartening to me that the young people are more aware of this detrimental dynamic then most of us older folks.
