B. Dolan, co-founder of Knowmore.org, wrote up this proposed list of demands for the Occupy Wall Street movement and it's really worth a read. You can be radical without being unrealistic. You can be radical while being accessible and making realistic, understandable points. You can be radical and win.

I may have another suggestion. Stock shareholders should not have guaranteed profits at the expense of the consumer. If they choose to invest in a failing company its their own fault. Consumers should not have to see constatnly rising prices to keep share holders happy.
On a look at the posted demands on know mores website. These demands are very plausible. I fully support that demands shown on this list. They are focused and attainable if we really stick together and push for this to happen. I really like the anti trust one. Too many companies have gotten around that for years. Its time to close loopholes for taxes and anti trust regulations.
These demands are not focused enough and many are not realistic. We should use realisic demands that can actually be put into action. I do think we should restore a living minimum wage but it will never go as high as twenty dollars an hour. We need to deman that cooperations are required to provide a fair wage for all workers and include benefits for basic needs. The free trade does need to be modified to help US companies compete. I think we should demand higher taxes on the oil companies and those earning over 1 million a year. Inheriance taxes should be increased as well as taxes of those in the entertainment industry: pro sports players (not minor leagues and actors and actresses). This will help reduce the countries debt and help fund more public healthcare. Union Bargaining rights definatly need to be restored. I dont think you will ever be able to pass no immigration laws, however making it affordable to obtain a green card would be very helpful. Credit reporting agencies will never go away as long as there is such a thing as credits and its unrealistic to think that all debt can basically be erased.
The oil companies need to be accountable for their actions and should not be getting the tax cuts, however, Americans also should start being more concious of the fuel and resources we use. Healthcare is a basic right if every American has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I know this is a bit jumbled, so sorry, but I have to get back to school work.
Beam me up Scotty. There is no intelligent life on this planet!
Funny you reference Star Trek. In their time, there is no money. It's useless. Everyone is equal.

Point 6 does appear to encapsulate Point 1. Clarification?
What's been on my mind, however, is that making a list of 'demands' that require change and regulation within the bullshit sytem itself may be counterproductive. Legislation WE deem to be sound can be overturned, for example. It is the system itself that is the problem. The actual cultural hegemony and ideology in which we have imprisoned ourselves that is the 'enemy'.
But how to break the system permanantly without getting all Robespierre? I don't know the answer to that. There isn't a guidebook to developing a functioning democratic and/or anarcho-communist and/or socialist and/or utopian and/or de-shit-ified (pick your favorite) society in ten, easy, do-it-yourself steps. I don't know how or when we're going to figure this out, but at the very least it is clear that we don't have a choice.
But I'm preaching to the choir, here.
We shall use all peaceful means to overcome corporate tyranny.
Much love!!
knowmore - right on!! The #1 priority must be campaign finance reform that gets corporate influence completely out of the electoral process.
2 should be the core element of a complete tax reform and simplification.
point 6 is meant to expand upon point 1...
