I saw that there was a kid friendly event in NYC...anything planned for DC or Baltimore that I could bring my one year old to? She won't remember it but I would lke to expose her to the movement...safely

Hmm. Interesting question that could also stimulate a broader discussion. Maybe parents should meet somewhere with kids to talk about:

  1. Jobs and money
  2. Lending and borrowing
  3. Owning vs renting
  4. Ethics and values in a global society (and even in one's neighborhood)
  5. Empathy--caring about others and walking in others' shoes
  6. Materialism

Messages from parents in this generation can make a huge difference in the future. Think twice before buying your 2-year old a plastic cell phone. Avoid "sharing" your old credit cards for them to play with. Avoid taking them regularly to malls, toy stores, restaurants (especially "all-you-can-eat" places), and instead--go camping, grow a vegetable garden at home, plant a fruit tree, build a bird house, and even consider helping your kids to start a company that teaches reasonable profit, social and R&D re-investment, and hiring of neighborhood friends in ways that advocate the kinds of practices that promote ethical behavior.

Cheers!
