Forum Post: Just Finished Paying MY 2010 Taxes......Ouch!

I just finished my 2010 taxes today (I had filed an extension). As part of the 1%, I wanted to educate the OWS crowd as to the actual tax burden on the "rich" (some may not know). The "rich" do not pay a 35% rate on ALL of the money earned (yes, I earned it....not an inheritance). The 35% rate is only paid on any amount above $379,150 (married/filed jointly). I am not posting this to "rat-out" my fellow "rich" folk, I just thought it would be educational since a lot of "rich" talking heads (aka...Shawn. Rush...etc.) make it sound like the 35% is paid on the total gross income. I did not post this to bitch...or make a case for more taxes on the rich. Just here to inform.
