This content is user submitted and not an official statement

I've already lost count on how many we've had so far in the "new millennium", but the latest recently hit the Italian Isle of Sardinia.

17" of rain in 90 mins.

http://www.euronews.com/nocomment/2013/11/20/aerial-images-of-sardinia-ravaged-by-flooding/

Of course the one that hit Somalia was completely ignored.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-24896857

Meanwhile in Warsaw, the lobbyists have landed.

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/corporate_lobbyists_flood_warsaw_climate_talks_20131120

Who the hell invited those idiots?

Haven't they done enough damage here in the US?

Here's their latest.

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/11/21/2977441/house-bills-drilling-fracking/

The second rule of fracking is, if you do talk about fracking, it will cost you.

If you were trapped at the bottom of a deep hole, you’d probably want to stop digging and start climbing up. It’s what any sane person would do.

Tell world leaders: Time to stop digging the climate hole!

That’s exactly the situation we are all in with climate change – and not only are companies like Shell and Exxon still digging us deeper, they are being handed shovels paid for by your tax dollars. This has to stop.

I’m just back from the UN Climate Convention that this year was in Warsaw, Poland. As usual, governments there spent a lot of time talking about climate change, and as usual, that talk is backed up by very little action.

For the third year in a row, Oil Change International released a simple but important analysis at the climate calks. We compared the amount of money rich governments are spending to support the oil, gas and coal industries, with the amount they are spending to help the poor around the world fight climate change.

Guess what? For every one taxpayer dollar rich countries are spending to solve this crisis, they are spending five to cause it. Obviously, that’s not the way to climb out of the hole.

The best climate science in the world agrees that we can’t burn two thirds of the world’s existing oil, gas and coal reserves. And yet the fossil fuel industry – particularly Big Oil in the United States and Canada, keeps digging us deeper.

We’ve produced a brief slide show that makes it clear how deep the hole is, and how we can all help to stop digging, and start climbing out of the climate hole. Please check it out, take action, and share it widely.

Warsaw, which was a Climate Convention sponsored by the coal industry, has been a new low point in international efforts to stop climate change. But as the conference was drawing to its weak closing, the negotiators heard the voices of hundreds of activists chanting “Stop Climate Madness” loud and clear.

We will have to keep speaking truth to power. In fact, we will have to chant and shout truth to be louder than corporate power and to start climbing out of this deep hole. Together, we can do just that.

Yours in solidarity,

Steve Kretzmann Founder and Executive Director Oil Change International

For More Information:

-Check out the research we released this week in Warsaw

Oil Change International campaigns to expose the true costs of fossil fuels and facilitate the coming transition towards clean energy. We are dedicated to identifying and overcoming barriers to that transition.

Don't mention the earthquake in Ohio.

It's just a little frackerquake.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Wasn't that finally attributed to people playing their mega base speakers too loud?

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Yep, and gays too.

That creates all kinds of weather and earth anomalies.

I know, because Pat Robertson told me so.

Ours is starting to melt. I'm used to having flowers by the end of the month.

This one has a name too, you know. It's called Pax.

In the meantime.

It's not just here either. They don't report much about the real world.

http://www.irishtimes.com/news/environment/seriousness-of-climate-situation-has-yet-to-sink-in-nationally-1.1690731

The comments section shows that denial isn't just a US phenomena.

Reality, will be hitting home, sooner than expected.

''The Climate Denial Beast - Time To Wake Up !!!'' :

''In this speech, Senator Whitehouse (D-RI) reveals the "carefully built apparatus of lies" constructed to deceive the public about the reality of climate change.''

''Climate-change Skepticism's Funding Sources Are Obscure !!'', by Sandy Bauers :

"Powerful funders are supporting the campaign to deny scientific findings about global warming," reported Robert J. Brulle, an environmental sociologist who studies strategies and funding patterns of what he terms the "climate change countermovement." Characterizing the "real issue" as "one of democracy," he added, "At the very least, American voters deserve to know who is behind these efforts."

''Sir David Attenborough : Enough With the Creationists and Climate Change Deniers !'' :

“Never before in history has the entire world been able to speak to one another. We are at the beginning of an extraordinary evolution as a species—one species is able to communicate instantly with every member,” Attenborough said. “I’m not so cynical as to think that ignorance will always win.”

Atlanta gets it's second storm of the century!

It didn't quite take three weeks this time.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/12/atlanta-ice-storm_n_4772981.html

But don't worry folks, all this wacky weather is pure and natural.

The Koch brothers told us so.

Or maybe Obama did it with HAARP and chem trails, or something.

Can I sell you some bottled water? $5 a liter

In the UK, it's now on the order of a quarter of a millennium.

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/02/10/3273171/climate-change-floods-rainfall/

As they say in the old country.

Yikes!

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Expect more of them.

Hurricane "Xaver" in early December again caused fatal destruction, hitting northern Britain hardest. Wind gusts were measuredup to 142 mph. Overall, this month was measured by the U.K. Met Office as the stormiest December since records began, with three major storms occurring around the Christmas period – "Christian," "Dirk," and "Erich" – and the pattern continuing into early January. Additionally, U.K. storms do not normally have names.

Since records began!!!!

I think they made a mistake with the color of the rapidly gathering/rising moisture - shouldn't it be yellow to reflect Rush peeing his pants?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

That works for me.........................:)

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

Truth in articles - should be emphasized - like t rushinglimpballs peeing his pants - if for no other reason - than 4 losing sponsors like a contagious leper.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Unfortunately, he's still getting paid.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

Soon though it should only be by the very rabid assholes of the world.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

Makes one wonder - how many of these events before the public "REALLY" takes notice. We already know that it is gonna take MAJOR public pressure to get governments to do the right thing and pull all support from fossil fuel and invest heavily in implementing green energy fully.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

I don't know.

I'll keep posting them ( the storms) in this thread as I find out about them.

You can help if you like..............................:)

Major ice storm crossing through the southern states - starting in texass - right now - still to make a mess on the east coast.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

It remains to be seen if it will be that big.

Some of those places could use the water.

Did you know the US cattle heard is the smallest it's been in 60 years?

Drought.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

That is the thing about Global Warming - It is not all about heat - well - It IS - but not as most would think - heat adds energy - energy creates unpredictable weather. Drought Flood Tornado Hurricane Blizzards Ice storms. In season and out of season. The Ice storm down south has already deposited over two inches of ice across a few states. It continues.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Whatever you want to call it, it's strange.

Today's temperature differential is 118 degrees.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2013/12/06/winter_storm_cleon_record_lows_us_weather_map_today_is_completely_insane.html

Whatever you want to call it, it's strange.

Yep - here it is middle of January temperature.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Deserts are expanding all over the world.

2 inches of ice? Now that's unusual.

This one might make the list yet.

Here in S.E. Mi., it's just going to get a little cold. We might get a dusting that will melt the next day.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

Here in the TC ? Well all of Mn really - major snowfall - about 8" around my area but three plus feet north of here. And from 40 degrees to 10 degrees in just minutes. So a nice ice skating rink on most roadways.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Glad I'm not there....................:)

I think I was supposed to be born in Tahiti, but something got messed up and I ended up in Detroit.

That's some kind of foul up. I should write a letter...........LOL

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 years ago

Hmmmm at that time would it have been a stork delivery mix up? or the USPS ?

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

And then....poof!

The storms become guaranteed, as the conference goes up in (coal) smoke.

Corporate War Of Aggression-------Advancing at a shocking rate.

It's an Ayn Rand infection.

Nothing more than an excuse for bad behavior.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Hmmm - funny - not haha funny - science fiction has a habit of being able to forecast/present in a story things that are not possible are out of reach that eventually happen like Man On The Moon - at the same time they have had the ability to look at cause and effect and present possible futures resulting from what is going on today - an example of that might be Fahrenheit 451 or 1984.

Anyway - how many books or movies have been made showing massive destruction world wide by super storms or atmospheric collapse due to the practices of man?

And now we have super-storm after super-storm the likes that we have never seen before - like the Philippine Typhoon - the strongest storm on record ever to hit land.

Well this is a trend of science fiction foresight that I would hope we do our best not to let it continue to extinction events.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

17" in 90mins sounds like science fiction, but it's not.

A typhoon almost as big as the US, sounds like science fiction, but it's not.

Another 60 tornado storm in the Midwest.

What used to be storms of the century, have become the storm of the month, each and every moth of the year.

But don't worry. Exxon says we have nothing to do with it, and Pat Robertson says it's the end of the world anyway, because.................gays.

Or whatever his patsy of the week is..............

The Warsaw conference isn't over yet, and there's still a glimmer of hope.

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/11/21/2979841/warsaw-methane-partnership/

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Negotiators at the climate talks are currently working toward a 2015 global agreement to achieve emissions reductions beginning in 2020.

They'll keep kicking that can down the road - until it blows their foot off.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Or course one dasnt mention that India is being hit again.

Not a "super storm", but hitting where one just did.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Now northern California is getting nailed and the forecast does not bode well for the east coast ( again ) as thanksgiving approaches.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Now that it's affected strategy.

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/11/22/2986391/arctic-strategy-pentagon/

Will they start to notice?

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well I know the Navy is working to get off of the fossil addiction - but they may be pleased with the opportunity to spend more money with the MIC - lots-a purchase order kickbacks?
