Just a heads up. When you use 'yall' like it's an actual word, you sound like a fucking illiterate.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

would " y'all " be more appropriate ?

since the root seems to be a contraction

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Not really, although it would at least show an understanding of proper punctuation, something also seriously lacking nowadays. Actually, the only point to my comment was to discredit the OP. The naysayers sometimes get under my skin.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

I guess your supporters have a pretty good grasp of the English language too. http://totalfratmove.com/767182?page=0 "Uuugh we could ration shit out... we should live life like commie socialists."

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

A link to a Howard Stern rant? Good comeback. I will admit one thing, though. There are a lot of morons in the OWS 'movement.' Of course, there are a lot of morons in my city, the schools I attended, the stores I shop, in short, there are a lot of morons everywhere. Probably even a few at Dartmouth. OWS is no more immune to bad elements than any other aspect of society. You people, however, seem fixated on it, as if the bad few define the whole movement. That makes as much sense as saying everyone in New York City are assholes just because Mayor Bloomberg is. Proof once again that there is no direct correlation between a college degree and intelligence. Or an education.

[-] 0 points by AlBundy (8) from Atlanta, GA 12 years ago

No but I heard you like to get a good grasp on some dick you pillow biting motherfucker.

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

Heads up for you, I don't think Dartmouth accepts illiterates, nor does my job. I have however heard many illiterate occupiers try to convince me why "greed is, uuuhh like bad, man."

[-] 3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Then start talking like you actually know the English language and maybe people will start taking you more seriously. BTW, I've met many college grads who probably shouldn't have graduated high school, since they don't even grasp basic concepts like sentence structure or 'i' before 'e' EXCEPT after 'c.' Your enrollment in Dartmouth means diddly.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

I do have a pretty solid grasp on the English language. The word y'all is more of a cultural thing, having grown up in the south it has stuck with me. If you're suggesting I forget about my culture and where I came from, well then I'd say that's even lower than I could stoop. If I were a journalism major or something useless like that, I would be more concerned. As it is, the only language I really need to know is math. But thanks for your concern, champ.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

They obviously made an exception in your case.

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

Well then, you should be a little embarrassed that an illiterate got into Dartmouth and got a high paying job before you.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I see they also taught you how to be presumptuous.

Was that a special ed class just for you?

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

Look at y'all. Trying to promote social equality but making fun of special needs people.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

No. I'm just pokin' fun at you, and your BSin'.

Glad we could teach you how to spell y'all correctly.

There's so much more you could learn from us........................:)

[-] -1 points by leonardsova (-24) 12 years ago

Yes there is so much we can learn from you. hahahhaha good one. I think your posting on here will be done when they finally kick you out of the library

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

More presumption from a "wrong winger"?

Who could imagine.

I doubt you even know where your local library is.

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

Doubt that very much, whatever more you think you can teach me, I'm sure I learned in the third grade. Sorry if I disrespected your English degree.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Just keep in mind that chimpanzees are better traders than humans.

Keep thinking you're better than everybody.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

Oh really? I guess I was unaware that monkeys could analyze various aspects of the market and develop complex algorithms to successfully trade with. I mean, that requires calculus, statistics, and computer programming skills among other things. Regardless, I feel sorry for you. I guess your even more of an imbecile than I thought. Outsmarted by both chimpanzees and people with special needs. I should have figured though, that describes about 99% of OWS... in which case I guess you really are the 99%.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

That's just the overcomplicated crap you had to come up with to keep up with the chimps.......:)

It's just your excuse for being overpaid.

Come to think of it, some of my co workers are kinda hairy...

People who use superlatives like "everyone" and "no one" are almost always never right.

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

key phrase-almost always never right. This is one of the instances where I am actually right.

[-] 2 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

The fact is many people have never even heard of OWS. So, they are not laughing and if they are not laughing then it is simply not true that "everyone" is laughing at us. It is also the case that while movement people have great senses of humor and often laugh at themselves, they don't do that all the time and are capable of being serious when necessary.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

What point are you trying to make here. You guys aren't changing the mind of anyone who is worth having their mind changed. And Im glad you guys have a sense of humor. Im not sure how anyone in ows could take them seriously. Mic checks? seriously? Reminds me of the games I played in kindergarten.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

What constitutes "worthiness?" You are obviously hostile to the movement. Not everyone is and many people are sufficiently open minded to the point of being capable of having their mind changed. That's how politics works, after all. If people couldn't have their mind changed, democratic politics, or for that matter a corporate board meeting would make no sense.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

At first I was indifferent towards you guys. That is until I saw the childish tactics that you guys use. Of course the harassment I received from the ows clowns didn't help either. Needless to say, you guys changed my mind, and I can't stand ows.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

In my experience there has been no significant change of tactics at any point so far in the history of OWS. OWS started as an act of civil disobedience and civil disobedience has remained a primary tactic of OWS since September 17.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

I'm talking about how you guys verbally assault passerbys, shoving your signs in peoples faces, taunting police officers, the mic checks, the chanting of "we are the 99%", and all of your other childish shit. I understand you want to protest, but that doesn't give you clowns the right to act obnoxiously.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

I've been to several different occupations on many different occasions and I have not observed any of the behavior that you describe, at least not the way that you describe it. I have never seen any OWS activist verbally assault a passerby. If anything they try to respectfully engage passersby in conversation, but then usually only when the passer by initiates it.

As for taunting police officers I can't say I've never seen that, but in every instance when I have seen it, it has been provoked by the police themselves. I am not excusing this, nor is it the kind of behavior that I personally would engage in, but I do find it understandable how people would be angered after being physically pushed around by the cops.

Mic checks are a practical matter. As a matter of law public adress systems have to be permitted and OWS in principle is opposed to applying for permits. Whether that is a good idea or not is a matter of discussion. I was at Zuccotti on September 17, before they started using mic checks and it was impossible to hear most of the general assembly. The mic check is a way for any individual speaker to be heard at some distance without the need of artificial sound reinforcement. It has the added benefit of really fostering active listening. If you have to repeat everything someone says it really internalizes the message. And it's not childish. It enables a speaker to be heard from one end of the park to the other, probably further than they could be heard using electronic amplificantion.

Chants are a part of every social movement. They may seem infantile, but they do bring strength and courage to participants when they are often faced with direct police brutality or the imminent threat of arrest.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

You are sidestepping the major points. You are either lying or haven't seen enough of the 'marches' if you are honestly saying you haven't seen any of these actions. When you clowns were in Chicago a few months back, I experienced all of these forms of harassment on my way into work every morning (I work at the Fed). And it's not just Chicago. I was in New York a few months back for business, and guess what? Same obnoxious occupiers.

And dangling doughnuts in front of the police? I would have curb stomped you guys too. Are you guys anti capitalism or just anti establishment altogether? For wanting to be a peaceful movement, you guys are really failing.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

I think I have a fairly good sense of humor, but I do resent being referred to as a clown. I can't speak about Occupy Chicago as I have never been there, though I have been to several occupations on the east coast and I have never experienced the kind of behavior you describe at those occupations.

As for the political positions of OWS, the only "official" OWS political statement of which I am aware is the Declaration of the Occupation of New York City passed by the New York City General Assembly about a week after the occupation began. It can be inferred (or at least I think it can be inferred) from that document that OWS is anticorporate, but I don't think much else can be inferred from that unless one takes the position that being anti-corporate is the equivalent of being anti-capitalist, though I personally don't think it is.

I've been involved in virtually every social movement that has arisen in this nation in the past 50 years and in my experience I have never seen a movement as consistently peaceful as OWS which is especially surprizing given the looseness of its organizational form.

[-] 0 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

I call y'all clowns because most of the ows supporters I meet have no idea what they are protesting or are more interested in getting high than protesting. I get a good laugh out of them.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

Personally I draw a distinction between an OWS supporter and an OWS activist and I consider myself one of the latter.

[-] 1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

In my eyes, both are clowns. Sorry champ.

[-] 1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

Yea I do, chief. It's my subtle way of demeaning others and asserting my superiority.

[-] 0 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

Do you really talk to other human beings like that? I really never met anyone who seriously used a term like "champ."

[-] -1 points by ibanker (-99) 12 years ago

Sadly they dont.

[-] -2 points by leonardsova (-24) 12 years ago

Now at the OWS events they get ZERO coverage by the media, unless the cops are down there beating the shit out of them. Then it gives us something to watch

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

True, the only coverage I have seen lately is Fox News calling them dirty hippies and a few video clips of that occupier getting stomped by the police.

[-] 1 points by elf3 (4203) 12 years ago

In faster time than it takes Wall Street and corporate America time to put together an advertising campaign Occupy has spread their message loud and clear with virtually no money and no advertising and very little coordination (who is smarter now?) You seem to have gotten the word and took enough energy to bother creating an account and posting to boot. No one asks why anymore just what we want to do about it (media will admit there is a problem but since apparently there's no solution they want to publicize since they represent Wall Street are willing to report on it to capitalize while at the same time propagandizing against it for ratings all because - millions of people are interested in this issue.)

[-] 0 points by ibanker (-99) 12 years ago

No money. Last time I checked you beloved occupiers can't account for nearly $300k of donations they received. That amount was embezzled by the very same occupiers who were fighting to end corporate greed. What a joke,

[-] 1 points by elf3 (4203) 12 years ago

Hah Wall Street can't keep track of their own money to the point where they need tax payer bailouts but they expect they can keep track of Occupy donations? What a joke! Not to mention you're pulling that number out of your ass as well as the fact that so many people were flooding in donations before there was any type of organization in place to handle it.

[-] -1 points by BullsAndBears (-36) 12 years ago

That was just one long run on sentence so I stopped reading. What is your point.

[-] 1 points by elf3 (4203) 12 years ago

I can see without rules to tell you how a system should work be it grammar or societal rules, (comma) you can't find your way out of a paper bag. Jane spell it our for you k caveman ? Wallstreet needs to pay lots of big wig advertising execs to lobby on their behalf and then hire another team for PR to improve their image = how many millions have they spent on this to reach a few thousand people ?(probably a lot) But how much has Occupy spent to get their message across to millions of people - not very much and no PR firms. This means we are succeeding despite Wall Street and their minions (that's you) propagandizing against us and it only took us one season really (Fall) to do it. Guess you heard - since you're here... that were a force worth your effort because we are a threat to Wall Street and the economic futility they've created. Thank us later when you're not hiding in your bunker.
