Forum Post: It's time to build a democratic economic system - bottom up!

The key to the OWS vision is in transforming the no longer useful private-ownership, private-profit economic system. This means working to evolve a new system, based on common ownership of the means of producing and distributing goods/services, along with democratic business structures (e.g. cooperatives) as the 'basic units,' and equitable or mutual rewards of labor. The social and legal tools are already in place, especially from cooperative history and law - we only need to extend the use of these tools into the mainstream. We can transform our communities from the bottom up, while we remind ourselves that true 'revolution' is conscious and collective evolution!
