Forum Post: It's All about Direct Action!!!

The Direct Action Working Group appears to move at light-speed compared with the painstakingly deliberative consensus-building horizontalistic General Assembly and the other working groups. The 400 some-odd members of this working group must have a singular talent for building consensus. Perhaps if some of the members of this working group were distributed amongst the other working groups, their genius for consensus building could be shared, and there would be more progress on other fronts, such as demands.

Their proposals also seem to receive approval of the full General Assembly faster than the U.S. Congress approved the Wall Street Bailouts. Is this carte-blanche or further evidence of some sort of bureaucratic consensus building genius?

Will it be based on consensus driven horizontalism?

The General Assembly of Occupy Wall Street is supposed to be operating on Direct Democracy or consensus building horizontalism.

You go horizontal, you make no head way. We're getting killed out there. We need to fight back. Did you listen to the Revolution theme song. We're getting our asses kicked! Wake up!

You're implying the movement needs leaders? This is sacrilege!

[-] 1 points by stuartchase (861) 12 years ago

No, I'm implying that I'm on a mission and if fellow OWS members want to join me, so be it. You said it's all about direction. Well, I think the KTC has found a good target to get people on our side. If you want to join the KTC, so be it. If not, oh well. The choice is yours.

The Revolution starts here!

Actually, I said it was all about direct action, not direction. And I was was trying to make a point about the rapidity with which the Direct Action Work Group operates compared with the other working groups.

This seems a little too specific to garner widespread support. If we are to wrest power from the 1%, we need widespread support. There is widespread support for the dissolution of corporate person-hood and the elimination of the concept of money as free speech!

When they are big and you are small, you take them apart piece by piece. This is the piece the KTC suggests!

Does this expalin the near light-speed that direct actions are planned compared with other functions of OWS?

I believe it starts with eliminating the influence that multi-national corporations have on our political process.

Only American citizens have the right to access our legislative process.

Demands are superfluous.
