Legitimacy: A critical mass of officials at the highest levels the three branches the US federal government are in cahoots with their private sector patrons and have forfeited the legitimacy of the government. It is the task of the people to restore it. The Occupy brand, to co-opt a bit of corporate jargon, is about non-violence. As long as the brand is guarded, perpetrators of violence identify themselves as provocateurs, i.e., counterfeits. Police are the natural allies of Occupy, which protects their safety and advocates for their rights as public employees. This strategy appears to be working brilliantly. Bravo, OccupyEverything!
