It has upgraded features like search :-)
I am also with equazcion in www.themultitude.org site. It is not a legit replacement, but a proper forum site, which this site is not. All of us at themultitude.org are hoping that OWS site tech team will finally see the light and start a phpbb based forum, but till then our site is the best place to organize online for the occupy movement. I can promise on behalf of the 50 odd members at that site and increasing everyday that as soon as we see a phpbb based forum in OWS site, we will close down ours and move back, provided there is a competent admin team doing a good job of keeping out trolls, till then just like there is many cities where occupy movement is popping up, themultitude.org is just another legit online place where this movement has popped up, and it happens to be better organized and better run than this OWS site for online organizing.
Equazcion here :)
themultitude.org isn't affiliated with this site, if that's what you mean by "legit". The site is the result of a group effort among individuals at this forum who saw how chaotic and feature-less it was (I handled the technical aspects). Many users here have been complaining about those things and we sought to help by making something better. A strong online arm to the movement would be a real benefit to everyone involved, and we just don't have it here in this mess.
If you have concerns please let me know what they are and I'll try to address them to the best of my ability.
any chance of adopting the the occupywallst.org domain name ... or some other way to let people easily find it through google? otherwise no people, no content .... we need a place where we can all find each other and talk
With human ego the way it is I have doubts that the people running this site would be open to officially supporting movement over to another forum and conceding that the one they developed isn't organized enough. I've been considering contacting them for that and if I can come up with a draft letter that's adequately delicate in its description of the issue I'll give it a try.
Right now all we can do is advertise here and try to gain support little by little, and eventually, hopefully, we'll get a strong online arm going for this movement.
This is a point we have to keep repeating. Egos need to be kept in check..for now.
We'll have plenty of time to argue, debate and engage in the "American discourse" after we get these bums out of power. For now, bashing on each other is definitely something this movement could do without. We need ALL of our numbers. And we need them UNITED.
instead of a letter I'd start a thread here and keep it high in rankings for couple of days for people to support the move to a new format or upgrading current.
I don't think you'll convince many to move organically w/o the domain name. Most will be willing to put up with the difficulties of this site to be able to reach the full audience (and the new people coming from a fresh google search)
We tried a dedicated thread but would've had to post comments ourselves too much (to keep it bumped to the top) and risk being seen as spammers. I'm hoping people will be willing to try participating at least in some limited way at the new forum while they continue posting here. Hopefully we can get enough activity going there at some point, to self-sustain the migration.
so what's the difference between occupywallst.org and www.occupytogether.org ?
Is the second one meant for broader reach outside NY? Are they ran by the same people?
I don't know, to be honest. It could be as you describe; that seems likely. I don't have any experience with occupytogether.org and don't know if they're run by the same people.
It seems www.occupywallst.org and www.occupytogether.org work together. There is a link to occupytogether.org next to OWC name on occupywallst.org
I think they're gonna be changing this site soon. That's what I heard.
thanks ... did you hear that on the ground or here?
Somebody I follow on Twitter who is working on some development stuff with them
It's a solid site. Much more so than this one currently is. Agreed that without the OWS name, it will be somewhat of a challenge to get a migration going but if we co-exist between both forums it would be most beneficial.
and mods who will censor what they see fit
ha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na
Autumn turns to winter, And winter turns to spring. It doesn't go just for seasons you know, It goes for everything.
The same is true for voices, When boys begin to grow. You gotta take a lesson from Mother Nature, And if you do you'll know.
[chorus] When it's time to change, then its time to change Don't fight the tide, come along for the ride, don't you see When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange who you are into what you're gonna be. Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na
Day by day, it's hard to see the changes you've been through A little bit of living, a little bit of growing all adds up to you Every boy's a man inside, a girl's a woman too And if you wanna reach your destiny, here's what you've got to do
[chorus]Autumn turns to winter, And winter turns to spring. It doesn't go just for seasons you know, It goes for everything.
