Forum Post: Is there any semblance of truth to the rumors of imminent U.S. bombing of Iran?

I hear from "generally well-informed sources' that, in order to create a diversion from its severe "OCCUPY" troubles, the Obama administration is actually contemplating going to war or, at least, bombing a number of targets in Iran.

Anyone have RELIABLE INFO on that?

AND if the rumor should turn out to be true, does OWS leadership have a plan to vigorously denounce the strikes and refocus public attention on the real problems of America?

Until it's more then rumor i don't think any one cares all that much. If it's true, it will just add more fuel to the fire and more support for the OWS movement. While i don't want to speak for every one, i think it's safe to say that most of OWS protesters are against any war.

Yes, OF COURSE the OWS patriots are against any war. That was not my question. I am wondering if anyone has reliable INFO on the veracity of these rumors.

It's a ploy to get people distracted from the protests. Ever watch Wag the Dog? Yep. Here's a link for more on it.

The “very scary” Iranian terror plot

"Glenn Greenwald writes: The most difficult challenge in writing about the Iranian Terror Plot unveiled yesterday is to take it seriously enough to analyze it. Iranian Muslims in the Quds forces sending maurading bands of Mexican drug cartel assassins onto sacred American soil to commit Terrorism — against Saudi Arabia and possibly Israel — is what Bill Kristol and John Bolton would feverishly dream up while dropping acid and madly cackling at the possibility that they could get someone to believe it. But since the U.S. Government rolled out its Most Serious Officials with Very Serious Faces to make these accusations, many people (therefore) do believe it; after all, U.S. government accusations = Truth. All Serious people know that. And in the ensuing discussion one finds virtually every dynamic typically shaping discussions of Terrorism and U.S. foreign policy."

The most hilarious part is, they use Mexican gangbangers to kill diplomatic officials, aka. messenger boys. Last I checked, gangbangers can spray bullets, but to actually operate a sniper rifle? That takes military training, something gangs don't have.

It's like Tom Clancy smoked a bong and had a hard time coming up with a plot for his next novel.

The only thing I know for sure is that the U.S and Iran are bickering about something... A diplomat that was supposed to be assassinated ? I haven't turned on any of the MSM channels in a couple months lol. I just don't care to anymore.

ALL THAT I PLEAD FOR IS THAT OWS HAVE A "PLAN B" just in case the trigger-happy Obama administration begins to bomb Iran - a plan so as not to be caught "off guard" by an obvious attempt to deflect attention from the ungodly mess at home.

We must think STRATEGICALLY.

If Obama bombs Iran we have bigger problems then anything the OWS can deal with. Iran is not Iraq or Afghanistan. This isn't peasants in mud huts we are dealing with anymore and Iran will have Ally's to back them up.

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 13 years ago

Correct, but OWS will still have to deal with the "diversion" aspect, as a country tends to rally around the president during a war.

But honestly, I think that in the end, if Obama bombs Iran, it will spell POLITICAL SUICIDE for him... well-deserved for the undeserving Nobel Peace Prize laureate!

I think you are not realizing the scale of a war with Iran... If Obama bombs Iran you very well may be witnessing the start of WWIII.

I believe you.

If they do, you may not hear about it. Iran isn't Iraq, they have a sophisticated military, and I don't think they would put down their arms and surrender nearly as easily. As well, China and Russia would be very against more hostility in that region from the US. They already said 'No' to US intervention in Syria.

I wouldnt be surprised. The US will go to the UN first and then attack Iran saying the UN isnt doing anything. Nobel Peace Prize!!

Which finge blog is your "generally well-informed source?" lol

If it were happening, then clearly nobody here would have "RELIABLE info." (C'mon... Seriuosly???)

You'll see plenty of posturing on both sides before that happens. I wouldn't necessarily rule it out at some point in the future but OWS will be about the last thing anybodys thinking about as far as that goes.

OWS doesn't have leadership, but I promise you that we are SICK of Obama's wars.

I highly doubt that. I think that Obama is counting on the OWS to bolseter his re-election dream. That's why he, Pelosi, and other prominent democrats are trying to attach themselves to the movement. The last thing they want to do is divert attention. OTOH, if the OWS turns violent, they will turn their backs and divert attention in a heartbeat.

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 13 years ago

They are trying like hungry leeches to attach themselves, but the Movement will NEVER fall for it! So I still think they ARE desperate to divert attention.

Anyone with INFO - not just speculation - on this?

Iran is actively working on nuclear weapons' technology. And yesterday, U.S. agencies made an arrest in connection with an alleged terror plot that would have taken place on U.S. soil, targeting the Saudi and Israeli ambassadors.

Now, if you have a state such as Iran that actively 1) says they want Israel knocked off the map and 2) is working on nuclear weapons' technology, and 3) is caught trying to to murder people in the U.S. capital. You need to consider whether that nation-state should be in possession of these weapons.

What do you think we should do about Iran?

Haven't you been unmasked as a troll?

[-] 1 points by PlasmaStorm (242) 13 years ago

You're using the cheap and forgettable thug tactic of negging someone's post and trying to attach a label to them rather than put up your own weak, debunkable arguments. You're the troll dude.

Another one where an FBI agent talked some wacko into doing something stupid.

NO, WE'RE NOT AFRAID OF MUSLIMS.

Go hide under the bed if you're so afraid. No more pre-emptive killing. Not in my name.
