“WHERE WOULD JESUS PRAY?”
The count of gospel verses that describe Jesus praying answer the question “Where Would Jesus Pray?” Unless Jesus had no choice but to pray in public or was praying in a special sense (healing, religious ritual, with disciples), he went off alone to pray.
There is no gospel evidence that Jesus prayed in public in anything like the way prayers are conducted at government events, such as school graduation ceremonies, legislative sessions, swearing in of public officials, or football games.
There was a Roman Coliseum for sports just outside Jerusalem. So, Jesus had an opportunity to teach about prayers at sports events. There is no gospel evidence that Jesus prayed before sports events. There is no gospel evidence that Jesus said there should be prayers before sports events.
The best evidence Christians have about “Where Jesus Would Pray?” clearly tells Christians that they should pray in private where no one can hear them. That evidence also tells Christians that they should not pray in public.
IS PUBLIC PRAYER THE WORK OF SATAN?
Christians who believe Satan is real should be asking why some Christians want government to conduct public prayers. Who would be for public prayers in disobedience to Jesus?
The logical answer for Christians who believe in Satan is that Satan opposes what Jesus taught and did. That makes Satan a likely cause of the Christian campaign for public prayers.
Satan would want Christians to disobey Jesus’ teachings and the examples of his life. http://www.losingmyreligion.com/essays/wwjp.html
Tebow is Just like all of the phony Republicans that pretend to be Christian when they are anything but.
A real Christian follows the teachings of Jesus, and works to help and teach others...not lead them to do the exact opposite of Christ's teachings.
Republicans would do well to listen to a real preacher who follows the teachings of Jesus....
"True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar
A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. On the one hand, we are called to play the Good Samaritan on life’s roadside, but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho Road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life’s highway."

Tebow is great not because of god. He is great because the bibles teachings are good. Tebow is probably the closest thing to a christian that I have ever seen. Tebow is great because he never gives up. He never stops trying. He does not get discouraged and he has so much faith in himself and his god that he feels he can win no matter what. That menatlity is spread throughout a great team. A team that plays without fear can do great things in my opinion.
It is not Christian to pray in public. He is not following the teaching of Jesus.
Well In my opinion there is a lot of crap in the bible. However, there is a lot of good also. Tebow in my opinion displays what good the people who wrote the bible had left in them.
Jesus said:
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him" (Matthew 6:5-8)."
YOUR interpretation of those verses is different from mine.
Jesus isn't saying that it's WRONG to pray in public-He's addressing the point that it is WRONG to pray for vain reasons. The "evil" is not in praying where others can see you, it's in praying BECAUSE you WANT others can see you. The sin was INSIDE of those who prayed BECAUSE they had an audience-not in public prayer itself. That sin is hypocrisy.
I'd equate that sort of hypocrisy with going into a public forum and making a great show of how much better or more obedient you are than other Christians.
sigh : ( can we have a team humanity .
lol what do you mean?
ows is great because it never gives up. it never stops trying. it does not get discouraged and it has so much faith in itself and his belef system that he feels he can win no matter what. That menatlity is spread throughout a great team. A team that plays without fear can do great things in my opinion.
ows is deluded, a tiny fraction of people so psychologically needy that a nostalgia-fueled make-believe trip to 1968 makes them 'know' they are accomplishing something. they are camping.
I hope Tebow is not praying to the devil because he has got a lot of false followers if he is.
Is your name from the African god, Ogun?
Oh..Give me a break...Stop worshiping..Yea, stop the Jesus worship to...Since not many practice his teachings, your worship is worthless.
The point is to call out American culture and these 'religious' assholes on their hypocritical bullshit.
Spot on!!!! Jesus and his words are to be honored, those who twist his words not so much.
Fine with calling out hypocrisy..Even my own...
"Hypocrisy: is the act of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie."
This entire thread then is a perfect example of hypocritical bullshit. We know you're not religious, so what "kind" of asshole are you?
I can't speak for Mr. "fuckcorporatemedia", but for me.. I'm the kind of person who thinks that it matters what you do as opposed to what you think or say....
I think that what you do pretty much reveals how you think, no matter what you say. :-)
Yep...and I'm a freaking hypocrite myself...I talk a good game, but I don't do nearly enough..Does the fact that I recognize my own hypocrisy make me less of a hypocrite?
Nope. Only thing that makes you less of a hypocrite is being less of one. In fact, I'd say recognizing that you are one, AND continuing to be one makes you evil on top of it. :P
I hope that by trying to not be a hypocrite..That I'll be less of one...We all are prone to hypocrisy...Like when we love our ipads and detest slave labor..But who makes these shiny gadgets..Slave labor in China (Foxxconn).
If you buy something today, you are in a way involuntarily advocating for slave labor....Maybe we are all hypocrites at this point.
Maybe if we know that the crap we by is made by some poor kid in China, maybe the act of buying this stuff makes us hypocrites..We say we want freedom for all...But everytime we buy something that was made in some sweatshop in China..We really are rooting for slavery..
It's an interesting situation.

I'm not an atheist or liberal...I just think rational thought is more important than "belief"..Sorry...
Again it doesn't matter what you believe..If you are a Jesus worshiping person who also happens to be a scumbag outside of church..You're still just a scumbag.
