Forum Post: Is it Time? Second American Revolution…

Are the American People again suffering taxation without representation?

Are our politicians more concerned with political power and party alliance than performing their duties effectively?

Has party politics paralyzed our system?

Is it time to do away with career politicians?

Are the banks, the corporations and the political parties running this country?

Are the American People responsible?

Do the American People have the right to fix what is broken?

Is it time to re-think our constitution?

Should we consider that many of the ideas that formed the original constitution are not relevant today?

Could the American People frame a better constitution that allows for the world we live in today?

Should this even be discussed?

Where have all the patriots gone?

These are just a few of the questions the American People should be asking themselves. After all, even Thomas Jefferson (author of the Constitution) recognized many of the problems we would be facing today.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. - Thomas Jefferson

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. – Thomas Jefferson

[The] Bank of the United States… is one of the most deadly hostility existing, against the principles and form of our Constitution… An institution like this, penetrating by its branches every part of the Union, acting by command and in phalanx, may, in a critical moment, upset the government. - Thomas Jefferson

I am not among those who fear the people. They, and not the rich, are our dependence for continued freedom. And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. - Thomas Jefferson

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country. - Thomas Jefferson

This past weeks CNN presentation on Fareed Zakaria GPS tries to answer some of these questions.

A brilliant, well-spoken reporter that digs into the questions on how to fix what is broken.

Please listen to the podcast. Think what the consequences will be for our children, their children, and the country in general if we fail to act. It is the American Peoples responsibility to do what is necessary to keep this country prosperous and responsive to the needs of the common man.

Arealpolitik, Not sure where you are getting your info. Jefferson was the father of the democratic party (republican, then democratic-republican) as it was named back then. He was one of the most prolific politicians of his time, maybe of all time. long after his own political career was over he continued colloguing to further his party's ideals and representitives. Your right on a portion of your statement, he did hate politicians, they were called federalists at the time. republicans as we now know them are nealy a half century away.

The Jefferson Tree – A bi-partisan (centrist) blog provides many unique and different political views. Ideas and opinions from a variety of contributors that invite discussion. Our blog reflects on the thoughts and beliefs of a great patriot who hated politicians, Thomas Jefferson.

He was neither a Republican nor Democrat because he believed that the extreme political platforms of those two parties would have been hopelessly partisan, authoritarian and unworkable. Does this sound vaguely familiar..?

Become a contributing blog on The Jefferson Tree or submit an article for discussion. As Jefferson would say, help us combine extreme views into workable solutions...

Special note: With the Occupy Wall Street movement underway we encourage articles that provide suggestions regarding changes that should or could be made within our government. Articles providing thought provoking ideas, thoughts or encouragement will be re-published in an excerpt on multiple OWS forums and message boards which will provide additional comments requiring your interaction. Please respond as quickly as possible to any notifications you receive.

LOL, AMAZING, YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP! Does anyone else realize how foolish this post is! Is it time to rethink the constitution, frame a better constitution and the idea's that framed the original constitution are not relevant today! I'm going to quote the very person who almost single handedly wrote the constitution to prove my point. I forget who quoted this so forgive me, but its safe to say you out educated your intelligence. Just saying

I've seen a lot of things on this web site that are nearly impossible to distinguish from parody. This isn't even the worst of it. I think that I might start a Tumblr blog to highlight some of my favorites.

My favorite one so far, hands down, is the guy who wants to revise the Bill of Rights, to add "forgiveness, tolerance, acceptance, respect, trust, friendship and love protecting life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". If somebody were to write a parody to try to discredit this movement then they couldn't have come up with anything better than that.

I dont think we have to go that far, i think we can heal the system, even improve it, without destroying our current democratic culture, but we'd have to unite http://occupywallst.org/forum/a-union-of-all-dissatisfied-peoples-ows-and-even-t/

True, we need a new Constitution, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Fareed Zakaria is a useless globalist tool, who spends way to much time jerking off to his own photo. I always get a chuckle out of his proposed solutions to dealing with the problems of globalism.

We are the 99%. We don't control where the money flows. We're the ones suffering job losses, choosing between groceries and rent, deciding not to have children so we don't give them the world we're getting.

I am the lost generation. I will be competing not only with other nations for jobs when I get out of college. I will be competing with others, who have had more experience than me in other, higher positions than the one that we, jointly, are applying for. I am the one who will have to solve the environmental problems caused by monetary greed.

I am a human. I deserve to have the best possible health care. I deserve to have the police "protect and serve" me, not brutally abuse those protesting for their rights (cough cough, Boston PD). I deserve to have a place to sleep at night, and food to eat, and a government that reflects MY values, not those of corporations that are in bed with politicians.

We are the 99%. We are human too.

Should voters have the opportunity to VOTE on a revolution? http://www.JeffBlock2012.com

[-] 1 points by arealpolitik (154) 13 years ago

This would not be a 'revolution' as taken from history books. A peaceful revolution using The People demanding they are heard. Yes, voting is in our heritage. How that voting is done might have to change with the times. Social networking is out of the box, it is the way we live. Read the rest of the article and listen to Fareed's ideas on how we can make the changes necessary, peacefully...

the people ARE heard - our government is broken, not deaf. Changes require Congressional vote. Congress is part of the problem so they are incapable of being part of the solution. But you want to quote Fareed:?

"People often note that America's political system is broken. Perhaps the truth is more awkward: America needs radical change, and it has an 18th century system determined to check and balance the absolute power of a monarchy. It is designed for gridlock at a moment when quick and large-scale action is our only hope." ~ Fareed Zakaria in Time Magazine "How to Restore the American Dream" (10/21/2010)
