Russell Simmons putting his face on you tube to the movement! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3XBfwRtZDI

Is this helping our cause, or is the entertainment industry trying once again to cash in on a peoples protest?

Is this part of the problem, or part of the solution?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_industry

"The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception"

we should have a discussion if we want their "help" or if it would be better to tell them to go and leave us alone as they are not part of the solution, but part of the problem!

All movements need a straw puppet as their leader. In that regard, many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org to support a Presidential Candidate -- such as any given political opportunist you'd like to draft -- in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress replacing the "old" Congress according to your current Occupation & Generation, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet; it's the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under, in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing & Group Investment Power, that's important. In this, sequence is key.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

So please JOIN the 2nd link so we can make our support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.

I would really suggest that we, all of us enlighten our self about the function of the cultural industry !

it is a tool of oppression!

I was disgusted about the reaction of some bystanders at Zuccotti Park when Russell Simmons showed up ...

Why is it that we pay so much attention to those Celbs?

Who made them anyway and for what reason?

Depends on who it is. Depends on how they support the movement. Getting involved, without making themselves a self appointed spokesperson, would help. Depends on the 'who' and the 'why'.

[-] 1 points by odiug (93) 13 years ago

Yes ... true ... they would have to prove their merits first before we accept their endorsement!

[-] 1 points by mrbond (25) 13 years ago

Oh yea. I didn't know Kenye and Russell were involved, thanks for link.

To odiug - just remember, you fork over your hard earned cash to support them to see their movies - as they are millionaires and you are not, let them put their money (if not their face) towards helping the fans by supporting them financially. After all, they made their money on the public, let them give some back.

Quite frankly ... i havn,t been in a movie theater for years! last time was the "inside job" ... the documentary about the financial crisis last year! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzrBurlJUNk And i cant remember the last time before that!

i satisfy my cultural needs in galleries and small theaters all over NY and not in big cinema complexes!

But i understand, it is not for everybody!

My point is, that we as a peoples movement should be careful about our voice and who we give it to!

The entertainment industry hijacked the protests in the 60th ... up to the point where Che Guevara became a corporate Logo ...

give me a brake!

We have to learn from past mistakes and have to stop it before they repeat them self.

I really think this movement has to distance it self from the cultural industry!

To stay away from it!

I know ... it attracts the teens and pretends to support us by borrowing their celebrity status to the movement !

But i really think this is harmful to our purpose!

We are getting hijacked and i think it would be better to tell them for once to shut the F*ck up!

this is our voice ... not theirs!

Yes, I agree. It is sticky business having celebs endorse the movement. I echo bpk. "Let them put their money into the cause." They need to be genuine and not just offer lip service. Because for the lot of them, its about publicity period. They like the attention it gets them,

[-] 1 points by bpk (13) 13 years ago

The rich celebs expect you the public to 'endorse' them by fawning over them and going to their movies - let them put their money into the cause to 'endorse' the fans - otherwise boycott their movie.

Double edge sword even if the celebrity is 100% committed to the cause.

I do wish that people paid more attention to politics, economics, and sciences rather than to hollywood . . .
