Attendees of Occupy Wall Street,
I'm a high school student interested in documenting one of the foremost American movements of my time. As many know, however, news outlets and other forms of media have focused on sensationalism over accuracy all too often. I'm hoping to get a more straightforward, honest look at more average protesters, those in the median of the 99 percent as opposed to the extremes. If you are attending the protests and think you have an engaging story to tell, please respond. I'm willing and eager to interview anyone who is interested.
check out adam kokesh on youtube he has a lot of interviews and lets people speak their mind and respond. peter schiff has some interesting videos too, he's the guy that says i'm the 1%, let's talk on a sign.
Tips for interviews: see if you can arrange phone conversations with your volunteers, then use a recorder with permission and put the phone on speaker...i did it with a college class and it worked fine. Verbal conversation has a better flow than written, and note taking can be distracting. Have a list of questions prepared: this will help as you write your report. Keep them loose and try them out on one of your friends: if the person can answer with just a yes or no, rewrite it. Keep it to no more than 10 questions. Do ask them to describe what they see and feel because it can help keep the report connected on a visceral level and more appealing to the reader.
Good luck! Will you post it here when you finish it?
Absolutely.
