Now that the Times article is out, we can get a good reaction of how occupiers feel about getting involved with the banks, with VISA and with fee based banking.
Regardless if the fund is ran through a credit system, taking the Occupy name and plastering it on a credit card is a bold move.
The Occupy Money Cooperative seeks to put people over profits, by letting the unbanked deposit their paychecks on a debit card with essentially no fees, except those taken by third parties. This lets the working poor avoid check cashing fees when they get paid, and money order fees when they pay their bills. Everyone who has a card becomes a member of the cooperative, able to propose and vote on policies and services. Maybe it is not the cashless economy that some hope for, but giving poor people power over their bank is a good first step. See http://www.occupycooperative.com/
