Unemployment is up but many have been unemployed so long, they no longer qualify. The politicians of the area are all snug in their positions against youthful and profitable businesses such as the night life scene ,a major part of tourism, Profits are flat for many but down for most, and foreclosures ramp up against even commercial properties that have been a staple of the local economy.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool the employees and business owners (which happen to be the rest of us).
not to mention the 20 % or so unemployment
no one seems to know the percent
