How are you going to get organized with a forum like this? It smells like political diarrhea up in here.
Yeah, I don't understand this. The whole world is watching here. Like I said before, all you have to do is put out the word and you have the whole CUNY computer department down here in half an hour. The success of the movement is outpacing it's infrastructure. This shouldn't happen. Somebody needs to look at the polls. 70% of Americans support us. If something is needed, put out the word and people will respond. That's how this thing will work.
70%, that's amazing, what's your source?
There are in fact alternate forums sprouting up, but none are as well supported as this one to my knowledge (with the exception of Facebook and Reddit).
Yea, really, on the off chance they're too busy & couldn't get enough help they should shut this down until they can improve it.
it is really a sad representation and shouldn't be taken seriously
There is now a sorta sort feature: http://occupywallst.org/forum/older-posts-here/
A curious technical effect has occured with the forum software in my exchange with TechJunkie, who is only being evasive and manipulative. I've been using logic to expose infiltrators here and I've seen his behavior qualifies. The reply button disappeared from his last post. Here is a screen shot.

Anyone have an explanation for this? Can you show another such on the forum?
Bumpbumpbumpbumpbump.... At first, it was sorted by post date, now it's sorted by comment date. Some other sort features would be nice!!!
By the way, the source code for the site is available to anyone who wants to do this. https://github.com/jart/occupywallst/
this forum is just fine as it is. if you need more structure, get involved here http://www.plainsite.org and share the link :)
There are other unaffiliated sites, better designed to facilitate discussion www.themultitude.org and www.occupyr.com.
Isn't every voice supposed to be equal? The other sites represent elitism and imposing a value system on other people. Those who don't conform are rejected.
If you think that's true then don't go, I was just making the information public. They're not my sites, and do you have any evidence that this has happened?
Hard to imagine your efforts to use your right to free speech is so easily fouled isn't it? A large portion of the traffic is artificial, it's "cognitive infiltration".-------- http://algoxy.com/poly/nwo_cognitive_infiltration.html
You posted an actual Iserbyt quote! Awesome!
I have no idea who Iserbyt is. Please post some links:) Explain what you mean.
The lady you quoted on your cognitive infiltration page. You really should read her work. She was the inspiration for the Iserbyt Award that I gave you.
I quote no one. If that is not true post my quote and her original. Explain what she is about.
This quote is from your page:
Hmmmmm, I forgot about that supportive quote. My bad.--- What is important, is "Do you understand how cognitive infiltration works and uses the "dumbing down"?
Haha you really need to read her book. You and this lady are birds of a feather. Even funnier is that your mere existence could be construed as evidence of her premise.
I agree these forums are pretty bad. But I think we should stay away from traditional forum layouts. There are better online discussion paradigms now. Stackoverflow and Reddit are good examples. Let good questions float to the top, and let the good answers float to the top too, while repetitive and bad ones vanish at the bottom. There should also be aggressive elimination of duplicate posts. Otherwise we are just going to keep running around in circles asking the same questions and have the same answers. Waste of time.
haha you ain't shittin, pun not intended
How about something to make it easy to find the new replies to a post. Now they're buried and almost impossible to find.
I put up Google's custom search, but it only has what Google's indexed so far. at http://ows.superunion.org
As annoying as these forums are at times, they are almost like the OWS movement itself. Go to one of the protests and talk to people, you never know what you will get and most likely never see that person again.
In a weird kind of way, I kind of like the random and un moderated nature of this forum. lol =)
Agreed, this forum is very well representative of the ideal of just accepting everybody and giving everybody an equal voice.
It also demonstrates quite well how that leads to utter chaos, and accomplishes nothing.
Implement a proper bulletin board please. Here is an example of how it's done: http://pelotoneast.com
vBulletin costs money. However there are plenty of others, free and good (like the one below), but they won't listen.
They can afford Vbulletin, it is not that expensive
How do you know? Who are they?
