How long did you people really think you could camp out at a park WITH NO DEMANDS? People are now officially tired of hearing our complaints. They understand our point of view. Now they want to know what it is we want and/or what they can do to help.
As long as we have point to the movement, it will fade and die, and will become a giant joke. in fact, I'm here to tell you everyone already thinks it's a joke.
I mean seriously, what is your slogan?: 'WHAT DO WE WANT?' "I DON'T KNOW!" "WHEN DO WE WANT IT?" "SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE!"
pick a SINGLE piece of legeslation and stick to it. Nobody is going to support a rally about general discontent.
The fact that people are out there with no demands shows you discontent is widespread.
At times I've thought the same but, maybe, just maybe, they are crazy like a fox. For example, eventually the adverse weather will drive them inside where, if they are wise, the protesters will continue their cause online, organizing and planning. Their occupation, clumsy in appearance, has gained them recognition that they could not have achieved online alone. So, what appears to be the work of an amateur may actually be the craft of a genius.
each of us has a spark of genius. all we need is a canvas to express it.
Good point.
Actually it's demented. There are dozens of pieces of legislation and other major systematic changes that are being moved towards. Many legislators and beaurocrats must be replaced altogether, which has nothing to do with legislation. Cultures of corruption must be weeded out to prevent corruption from quickly growing back.
There are numerous people in the working groups working on these problems full time. It is you people who fail to understand the complexity and size of this undertaking, and in typical American potato couch fashion have failed to understand that not everything fits in a soundbite.
Well somebody better post an update. The average American doesn't have a clue what is being done or what they can do. That is a real problem.
You need to go to your occupation, ideally, or donate. That has been made very clear on this website. More outreach us a good idea too though, I agree. But someone has to show up and do that. I am helping with my local occupation in Portland and people are busy doing a lot of other stuff already. Some personnel power should be redirected though perhaps.
How is giving money to people with no specific plan going to put me at ease..I've been doing that for years with my taxes. I agree with almost all the points the movement is making but show me some direction beyond marching with signs. Show me something thats going to give me hope....the masses really inspired me but now I have no idea what they are actually doing thats going to help.
If there are pieces of legislation being worked on, that's good imo. I'd like to hear more about that. I don't deny the complexity or the immensity of the problems. I couldn't agree more "that not everything fits in a soundbite. Having been led by soundbites is one of the greatest problems we have. I would just like to see more targeted focus. I should say i only agree with part of the above post. I don't think it's time to conclude "we've blown it" Time to refocus, is more what I would say.(ps; I'm more of an on my feet potato.)
