Spineless dems caving in to right wing pressure? Or just afraid of losing a powerful tool of obstruction when they are inevitably in the minority?

The real puzzle is that any SENATE can change this rule on the first day of the session.
I would bet that, if, God forbid, the Rs ever have 51 Senators, the filibuster will go immediately.

i wouldn't be surprised. Dems had a chance and passed some weak reform. So they are reaping the results.

But they wouldn't use it when they had it. The RATpublicans would threaten to kill the filibuster, if the Dems even thought about it. So the Dems peed in their pants and said, 'oh, we better not.'

Hagel is a POS. He's an islamo-fascist sympathizer and if Barry wants him then you know he's wrong for this or any other position in Government.

Filibuster,baby,filibuster!!

OK Chucky, let's play !! This is where you're coming from, right ? :

Right ? ie 'Extreme & Reactionary Right' !! Only one question left to ask ...

Cui Bono ?

Why? Because he ain't an Israel-firster, laster and alwayser? Do you know what that's called? It's called treason.

You talk a good line, but you are a traitor to America. Get this: no more U.S. boys and girls for Israel's wars! Got it?

The RATpublican Israel-firsters blocking Hagel -- none dare call it treason.

The Dems are the fake opposition. The Rats governed with 51 votes and a nasty glare at the mention of a filibuster. Reid is a joke and the Dems are a joke.

"consider the wrongful conviction of Alabama’s Democratic governor, Don Siegelman by what apparently was a Karl Rove plot to rid the South of Democratic governors. The “Democratic” Obama regime has not investigated this false prosecution or given clemency to its innocent own. Remember how quickly Bush removed the prison sentence of Cheney’s operative who revealed the name of a CIA undercover agent? The Democrats are a cowed and cowardly political party, fearful of justice, and as much a part of the corrupt police state as the Republicans." http://www.a-w-i-p.com/index.php/2013/02/09/it-has-happened-here#more18715

"Neither does the media inquire how the Taliban, which resists the US invasion and attempted occupation of Afghanistan, fighting the US superpower to a standstill after 11 years, came to be designated as terrorists."

In mid 2000 (2001?) the Taliban leadership rejected a proposal by a U.S. backed consortium of oil companies including Unocal (CentGas) to build a pipeline from the Caspian Sea oil fields of Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to the Pakistani coast. IIRC, the first reconstruction contract let after the U.S. invasion in Afghanistan was for a trans-Afghan highway, which just happened to parallel the proposed pipeline route...

FWIW, the above link has changed significantly (since the last time I researched this issue) insofar as it is now much shorter and less detailed... Not sure why, but some "facts" appear to have changed or disappeared.
