How about Perry's 20% flat (regressive) tax to kill the American middle-class and inflict further harm on the poor.

Same thing, just as bad especially since he is more grasping at straws to gain support, this is scarry stuff, mr Obama s health care legislation started out pretty good but was so convoluted and adulterated by the time it was passed it now is a regressive bad bit o legislation! Imagine if the same thing happens with tax reform, well all be screwed, unless of vourse you are a corporation or wealthy investor!

A flat tax is equality. However, Cains plan has no limits keeping government from raising the rate. It has no exemptions for basics like non-prepared food, life dependent medical or housing. It taxes the individuals labor. It's too high and government needs to function on less.

The best solution is a flat 12% sales tax. State gets 7 cents and the feds get 5. You volunteer to pay taxes by consuming. If you only bought a bag of dried beans then you wouldn't pay anything. The guy buying a $100k car pays a shitload...

I just worry that there are not going to be any exemptions, right now i can write off anything i buy for the farm as a business expense, his plan and others seem to lean way too heavily against the average taxpayer and true small business. In the article they state that these exemptions will go away

Flat taxes can be incredibly regressive if applied across the board. I wouldn't be as opposed to a flat sales tax as long necessities were exempt or carried lower tax rates, i.e. food, certain clothing, and a certain amount of energy for heating and electricity use. That way people with a higher disposable income can voluntarily contribute by purchasing things like new cars, designer clothes, etc. The poor simply don't have the disposable income to have to pay the same tax rate as the rest.

It's Cain, but yea, this 999 plan is gonna be a rude awakening for his rank & file supporters, if it ever happens.
