brilliant - everyone should know these!
ask yourself this: Why is critical thinking not taught in schools?
(a little comment on the title though: My understanding is that it's not the anchors themselves that employ disinformation tactics but rather the editors and strategists behind the scenes that feed and control the anchors... I've seen interviews with Fox-employees where they tell how they're given ideas, phrases and words to push from their editors, and instructions on "where not to go"...)
Hi sudoname, Good post. Good link.
These sound like brainwash tactics. The old lie repeating over and over until our mind tricks to thinking it true.
I think we all have to be careful of it.
The other thing it does is it feeds our sense of needing a narrative to process the chaotic world as it unfolds to us. We all have these whether we admit or not. It's a survival instinct. Same as that image when you see a stranger.
The only defense is critical thinking. Truths come only after good research from several sources and collaborations. Science has a beautiful way of getting to it.
Good thread. This is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Are you sure thats not from the " How to be a good politician" manual?
It seems to work for them too.
