This is a good idea, i wish i did this more. Unfortunately I seem to like arguing with assholes.

I'd rather respond to an angry post with a silly one.

I too will reply to this and ask whoever the admin is to enable upvoting/downvoting for posts like they have with comments. This way terrible posts will be downvoted and ignored while good posts will be upvoted and seen.

Is there anyone actually admin'ing this forum?

It's not really clear that that is a good idea. Supporters can overwhelm a site too. You can check news.yahoo.com and finance.yahoo.com which have similar voting schemes. They are filled with ardent Libertarians of the Koch variety. I think posting is their job. It's the new political advertising.

All I'm saying is that it's worth a try in order to clean up the forums a bit. As it stands now, this place is a cesspool.

yes there is but the request will have to be made to the open source community that admins the forum. mods only have what the software allows.

I believe it's built in, looks like the same software that reddit uses.

ah, ok. well maybe the fear of trolls upvoting crap to clog the forum is an issue.

[-] 0 points by booshington (397) 13 years ago

A fair concern but I think it'd be worth a try considering the trolls are already clogging things up.

Also people need to use the upvote/downvote feature more. Next to the comment, upvote good downvote bad, it's easy.

I'm going to reply to this because it seems somehow improper to leave it without any replies!
