Then nothing will ever be changed. Nobody wants to actually DO anything. You all just want to whine and bitch until somebody feels sorry for you. We have to be willing to actually DO something because standing in the streets hollering with signs is just stupid to the big guys that are still using our money to buy their elaborate lifestyles. They are laughing at you because it's just dumb. Gathering in the streets is a good way for US to unify and get the word out...other than that, nothing will happen unless we decide to take action. We can bitch all we want, because nobody gives a damn...because of the simple fact that our bitching doesn't affect them AT ALL. Their life hasn't changed...they are all doing great!
-VIOLENCE is the only thing that will REQUIRE government intervention, and make the 1% HEROES for stopping it!
Let's use the internet for this purpose:
Everyone renounce their debt - and discontinue payment on one day.
Then post the names of people who DO pay their debts. Not for any purpose of violence, but so that other people in the community can gently encourage them not to feed this tyranny.
The courts would be clogged-up, if 2% of people strategically defaulted.
Start the war against Injustice by starting our own banks to double the income of the Bottom 90% of Workers, for many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 1% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves, and thus doubling our income from Bank Profits which are 40% of all Corporate Profits; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org in support of the above bank-focused platform.
Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress, and related “new” Businesses, replacing the "old" Congress, and related “old” Businesses, according to your current Occupations & Generations, called a Focused Direct Democracy.
Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet, a political opportunist; what's important is the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing Power & Group Investment Power. In this, sequence is key, and if the correct mathematical sequence is followed then it results in doubling the income of the Bottom 90% of Workers from today's Bank Profits, which are 40% of all Corporate Profits.
Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.
The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 1% Management System of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.
Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupations & Generations.
So please JOIN the 2nd link, and spread the word to as many as possible, so we can make 100,000 support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.
The only way to make them understand is to stop giving our money to them..and take back any money they might have of ours now. Close any accounts you have and stop letting them use your money!
This problems we're concerned about have been in the making for more than 220 years. Let's not panic and give up if we don't solve everything by first thing tomorrow morning. We're just getting started!
Take a look at the money-out-of-politics Constitutional Amendment poll, and please add your ideas and feedback. http://occupywallst.org/forum/poll-what-do-you-want-in-a-money-out-of-politics-a/
I agree with you 100%. Standing out in the cold and the rain achieves nothing - they just sit in front of the TV with their snifters of brandy and crack a rib laughing at us. DEPRIVE THEM OF YOUR MONEY - that is the only think they care about. STOP SUPPORTING Corporate America - start giving your business to small local businesses instead. That is the only thing that will make Corporate America sit up and take notice.
FINALLY someone else gets it! I closed my accounts today...all of them..and it feels good to have my money back in my pocket instead of lining theirs!
Congratulations! Doesn't it feel SO refreshing to know that you are actually making a little difference? Now, go and talk to all your friends and colleagues about how they can help their communities and influence the behavior of the companies that are offshoring jobs as quickly as they possibly can. I don't want to bring down the banks or Goldman Sachs - the majority of people that work for those companies are good ordinary people, just like you and me. And they are being shafted by their own executives just as much as we are. What I want is to get these people to realize there are more important things in life than just accumulating wealth and power. And treating people with respect, and investing for the future, and respecting the beautiful planet that God gave us is a start in the right direction. But you HAVE TO GET THEIR attention - and just standing out in the cold is not enough - TAKE AWAY THEIR MONEY, that is all they care about.
What should we do?
Hunger strike!
How much would we have to raise in order to be a threat to cause havoc on the market? I mean this is growin global and the cause is gaining more momentum. A lot of people could donate small sums of money over even a long period of time. If we raised enough money they would have to listen, we would be able to play their game a little.
We would never have enough money to play their game...they own the board and all the other players too! Just take your money back from them, and don't give them any more of what you earn. It's the only way.
not true, join our working group and change the future

Nope..everybody just go home and go back to what has worked for them for so long. Nothing will change because nobody wants to sacrifice. Have fun..I'm going back to my two jobs, no health insurance, and the simple pleasure of paying my bills...even thought there is nothing left for my family to thrive on. This is just a bunch of people bitching and expecting a handout...I thought it was a revolution to take back what they have stolen from us. Silly me!
There is a lot of things going on at the encampment. That is where all the action is atm.
Proposals? Are you an administrator? Please take the time to pass this idea along then:
The theory of economic rent has been around for some time, but land taxation has seldom been implemented throughout history. It is well known that the factors of production are composed of land, labor and capital. Land, in the economic sense, can be explained as anything with a productive capacity that has not been created by men or women, but has value created by the community. Labor is any human energy spent , whether by the mind or through brute force, that contributes to a means of production. Capital is mainly what is spent from savings for future production. Under the current system, mainly labor and capital are taxed, while the landed elite make out like bandits with the rents that are created by the community! It is no surprise that civilizations have suffered from vast inequalities since the founding of the first governments.
What we need to fight for is a redistribution of these economic rents for the sake of the people, while at the same time reducing the tax rates on labor and capital. These rents from land are the source of all wealth and are presently held by a small number of wealthy people who will speculate and slow there productive capacity in order to increase profits.
This demand goes out to the people of OWS! If there is one thing we need to change in order to promote equality, environmental protection and job creation through increased productive capacity, this is the solution we need. Please read about economic rent and land taxation in order to fully grasp the concept.
This is something proven in theory and not based on anyone's personal opinion or ideology. While we are divided on many things, it's time to come together with some real demands to benefit the majority of unrepresented individuals of the world. Lets show the top 1% that we know where their unearned wealth is coming from and that we know exactly what is needed in order to bring them back to the real world!
not taxing capitol gets tricky
though resource hording may be difficult with out land
how would land value be accessed ?
I don't assess property, but I have researched the topic thoroughly. When property value is assessed, they already break it up into land value and value for infrastructure. There are several ways they do this, most commonly it's done by sales history of similar properties without improvements. If there isn't enough data they will price land by area, population density, or other factors.
Now, there is software that can accurately price land withing 0.01% of the actual value. I would love to see this as a demand of OWS, but I don't see anyone even mentioning it.
money is no measure of land
Land is at a fixed supply, so yes, if we plan on using mony in this world than land will have some monetary value. The problem is that land has always been held in the hands of a few throughout history. If we can tax this economic rent, we can achieve some equality in the world, without sacrificing production or job creation.
Patience is a virtue, if we get too ahead of ourselves we will be all tactics and no strategy. We're in this for the long haul, let's be strategic.
what should be done?
Hunger strike!
that only worked for Gandhi
What? that's the most defeatist attitude i've ever heard. You don't think there is any cross over between Gandhi (and the entier nation of india) going on a hunger strike and the british leaving; and, us hunger striking against the banking cartels?
That 'only' worked for one of the most powerful social movements of all time... maybe we should mimic it.
pardon my ignorance
If you've seen the light spred the meme. I'm trying to get a thread to surface, but all this information is drowning out my attempts at starting a serious discussion about a hunger strike. It's our most realistic option. You can't fight against a hunger strike, It generates sympathy (and coverage) from the media. And there's a time frame: you need to do something before people die. It's genius. It's the most powerful and realistic tool at our disposal.
Ok.
My first idea seems to finally be happening. Withdraw your money from bailout banks and place it in local banks.
Vote out anyone from Congress that voted for the bank bailout because they obviously did not read it.
Petition for Congress to reenact strong regulations on financial institutions.
Kick out the illegal immigrants
Amend social assistance programs so that the recipients must follow strict guidelines to be eligible for benefits. Medicaide/Medicare/ect - No smoking/drinking alcohol/drugs/obesity(unless this is a result of something out of the control of the recipient), Welfare/WIC/ect- No drug-use, no having additional babies, must work job(even if that job is picking fruit), cannot use funds on items that are not necessities. Ect.
There's a few ideas for you.
LOL, OAAAO is trying to kill off the OWS movement by getting them to starve themselves to death. You do know that starving yourself for too long can cause long-term damage to your organs right? I mean even if you don't starve yourself to death, you can damage your organs beyond repair......well they have kidney transplants nowadays.....go ahead everyone, do the hunger strike.
Yeah, like how gandhi tried to kill off his people. I can't tell if you're trolling, a cia mole, or ignorant. But this isn't how a discussion should be held. If you aren't willing to risk bodily injury for a cause then you obviously are in the stands rather than playing on the field. This is serious.
We need to make demands, and we need a mechanism for having them met. If you don't agree with the hunger strike idea make another suggestion. If you are going to play politics, then i trust people on this forum to be smart enough to add and subtract.
Land tax!
them home owners ain't gonna like that
they's already paying mortgage interest
maybe they gets an exception for the hose they live in
Yeah, I don't like anything that taxes homeowners. After 5 years of trying, I'm finally about to be one.....so, yeah......lets scrap the tax homeowners thing.
If you pay a mortgage you don't own your home, the bank does. Read above and comment. It's really a great system based in economic theory.
i see no flaws at the moment
Yeah, well I know the difference between renting and paying a mortgage. call it what you want, but I'd rather be a homeowner paying my mortgage than a renter wanting to be a mortgage payer.
If you're paying a mortgage you don't own your home!!! Land tax wouldn't apply to you.
But when I finished paying my mortgage, then it would. yeah, lets not do the whole land tax thing. Homeowners already have to pay for the public educational system.
I like the 9 9 9 tax system. I like the fair tax even better. I have no problem paying taxes, so long as everyone is taxed equally.
Listen, the land tax would replace all other taxes. For anyone that works for a living, this is beneficial to them. The only people harmed by this system of taxation are land speculators. If you own a 100 k home, that is not all land costs. Depending on where you live, you might only pay 10k/year in land taxes. Stop arguing and go out and research the idea. That's what's wrong with us Americans. We are so set in our ways that we won't even do what's in our best interest anymore. This tax system is in your best interest unless you own a ton of land that you are not using.
