Forum Post: Idea to reform how we vote

This is merely an idea to allow each individual citizen the ability to have a direct voice for him/herself, and not through a representative. Our pledge of allegiance is "To the Republic for which it stands." This would I think help to make us more truly a Republic of the people. With that said, here goes...

We set up a website. All legislation and policy up for vote, and all legislation and policy already in law should be on this website. To login your user ID would be your social security number. Social security numbers of non-deceased citizens over the age of 18 would allow you access to vote on all legislation. Those under 18 would be able to view all legislation but not vote. Deceased social security numbers would be retired from the data bank.

Upon logging in all legislation would be divided into three categories based on the location you are registered as living in. Local (city municipal), State, and Federal. Each of those three are then divided into two separate categories (Up for vote, and currently active legislation).

Clicking on a particular legislation brings up a word document allowing you to read through the entire legislation with a summary at the end stating purpose, and supposed pros and cons. After reading through said legislation you could then vote. Voting could be done yes, no...or on a scale of 1-10 with a average of 6 needed to pass. After voting your social security number would be locked out of that legislation so that you could not vote again, but could still go back and read as you wish. There would be a voting close date, and before that date you could change your vote if you wish.

Existing legislation would have a 1-10 scale attached that everyone could rate. If at any time a particular legislation falls below 4 or 40% popularity, that legislation would come up for amendment or revote altogether.

Now, this idea doesn't propose any actual legislation, or ideas for how things could be. This only proposes a way for each citizen to have a direct voice on all legislation at all times. This would allow us, we the people, to be our own government.

I would propose however that should something like this come to pass, hacking into the system and vote tampering be considered treason. But, that too would be voted on by us all.

This is merely an idea, but it is one I've been thinking about since OWS started. We all have our own ideas of how things could be. This would allow us the ability to make sure our voices are heard collectively, and not just the guy with the loudest voice, or the most money advertising his idea.

Ultimately I think a new mass party or at least an attempt at a new mass party may come out of OWS, but, to paraphase St. Augustine--not yet.

Joe Paterno proves Americans are creeps

Joe Paterno allowed a kid to be molested. When a kid is being molested you don't report it to an athletic director, you report it to law enforcement. For law enforcement to now protect Joe Paterno from the same justice they are pursuing with all of Paterno's staff involved in the molesting incident because Paterno won or lost football games proves that the American people are nasty, stupid, and ignorant creeps.

The fact that the American people allow the entire government to be bribed on the record because they call bribes "campaign finance" is glaring proof that Americans are irrational. They laugh at the jokes by SNL, Jon Stewart, and Steven Colbert while they ignore the reality of those jokes.

Casey Anthony alleged being molested by her father but the Florida State Attorney refuses to prosecute George. George Anthony on the witness stand gave evasive answers when he was confronted for molesting Casey but he isn't being prosecuted for perjury either.

The Florida State Attorney knew that their evidence of the duct tape was rearranged by them for their attempt to execute -- murder -- an innocent woman who was the victim of her father's molesting. Only creeps do that. Then the media lied every day to convince their vast audience that Casey murdered Caylee. Only creeps do that. http://overthecoals.blogspot.com/

Hey, you don't have to tell me. I live in neocon ally. You should hear some of the stuff that gets said by my coworkers. But, there is still hope of a brighter future for all, through the voice of a hopefully reasonable majority.

The vast majority of Americans 99.999% revere their Gods like Joe Paterno even at their own expense. There is no hope for a brighter future.

An Informed, Reasoned Solution for America’s Economic Disaster

By Steve Miller

The trade policy begun by President Clinton when he passed the NAFTA treaties started the giant sucking sound predicted by H. Ross Perot during the 1992 election campaign. America has been sold out by the ruse named globalization. We Americans are constantly reminded that globalization is a fact of life and that we need to adapt to the competition of slave labor in China and other dictatorships that force their citizens into slavery.
The only remedy that can possibly work to reverse our own economic destruction is the formation of a new third party that will represent the 99% of American citizens who aren’t CEO’s and Board members of the multinational companies that have outsourced our jobs to slaves. There must be class warfare to reverse the class warfare used to create the globalization ruse. Americans have been completely bamboozled by the media propaganda that peddles globalization.
“Free Trade” is a slogan for slave trade. The obvious, simple solution that would fix the economic depression gripping America is to forbid the importation of slave made products from China or any other country. The effort required to manufacture those products domestically using an American workforce would require a construction boom necessary to build new factories equipped by the most modern machinery that would hire millions of construction workers.

liberals are making a stink about having to show an id to vote, and you think they are going to go along with this?

It's almost always about presentation. But, social security number insures US citizenry and one time voting per citizen. It's just an idea like I said. A step towards a Republic vs an electorate democracy.
