This thread and link are very important IF you are serious about Democracy.

Again Icelanders erstwhile 'berzerkers' but these days 'Warriors for Democracy' ... show the way. Their resistance to Banker Despotism has also been heroic.

Great job on this! Iceland can be a great example for us because they took a different approach, rather than deficit spending they increase their social safety net and also let the bank fail. The result is that unemployment has not gone out of control and the too big to fail banks are gone.

OWS should start doing something in that sense: legal system changes. Most of the new forum stuff is negative about #OWS. Let's be propositive. Here's my contribution: I wonder if #OWS has lawyers in its ranks, as well as laymen willing to jump into the subject, to start drafting reforms to the current law in all the subjects that should experience changes. Let me tell you about our experience in Mexico. Several independet citizen groups, not formally associated, have been able to block taxes to internet services, introduce independent candidates, class actions suits (both formerly not allowed), new laws for nurseries (we had a nursery on fire two years ago, 49 kids died), funds for drugwar victims, and some more. We have been forced to draft legal stuff, with or without professional help, look for sympathetic legislators, block entrance to congress to get attention etc, for several years. No permanent camps, rather patient and sturdy lobbying. Now that winter is coming and #OWS might eroded for several reasons, it is time to prepare a short-term legacy like the one I mention above, while also planning for patient action with other mechanisms to last for years. Sorry to take my very discredited country as an example, but it's the case I know best and it is what we have been able to do against the bad things happening here. What I ask you to focus on is the mechanics used here and analyse if it works for you guys.

Step by step friend. Everthing needs time. It will all come good in the long run. There has never been a tool (or weapon) like Internet before. And spiritual evolution is slow but sure. Read "The Sacred Science" and Sri Yukteswar in Wikipedia. A complete cycle is 25 thousand years. But we have passed the worst, Kali Yuga, the Middle Ages, now we are going up, little by little and with ups and downs, but we still have about 10 thousand years of going up before it starts going down again. Just like waves :-) Everything has cycles. And we too, not only women. :-) Sorry for the bad jokes.

Thank you for this...how brave you all are for forging ahead and demanding real change in the face of such violence. Your points are great and OWS is likely to take a similar course. There are already several groups who have started legal work on focused issues. Yes, positive posts are harder to come by as the movement goes on...but there are still thousands of people who work passionately on exerting change...such as yourself! Please continue to post your message.

Just to give you an idea of the big difference between Iceland and the US. Iceland has a law that makes it impossible to ban Wikileaks. In the middle are countries like UK and Sweden, officialy democratic but puppets of the CIA and Wall Street, who are helping to send Julian Assange to the US. In in the other extreme of the scale is the US who wants to send Assange to jail forever to join Bradely Manning. So it is a long way. But let us be optimistic, the US can put Assange in jail, but it cannot put truth in jail, let alone Truth. Because truth is "free", and for the first time in history, in the two meanings of the term, not just in one. :-) Cheers for the optimists, this is an American quality, or was, isn't it? :-)

Iceland is now what the US was when their constitution was written. Yes, if Iceland can do this, you can too, but it will not be easy. The US is not Iceland.

Amazing how the great strides of Iceland and the shear tenacity of Iceland's citizens can fight against the banker barons. The Ruling Power Elite know that if this defeat becomes too public, and the rest of the world saw how successfully the tiny population of Iceland told the Globalist bankers to shove it...the rest of the world would follow suit. It scares the hell out of them. That is why we don't see too many headlines about Iceland. Yes, it won't be easy, but then, if we don't do this now, life will be 100 times more difficult in the near future. Now is the time!

Yes Leynna, I agree with you, we must try and be optimistic, perhaps we are at thed dawn of a new era, like Mayas predicted. Some people think they meant 2012 will be the end of the world, but perhaps it is only the end of this kind of world and a new one is coming. I do not believe doom prophets, they have a record of mistakes, and will continue so, some peole are addicted to doomsdays.Yogananda said there will be no end of the world. Do you know he lived for 30 years in the US and he said that the US is a God bless country? Though I am not sure if he would say it now :-) Only joking. His guru was Sri Yukteswar, read about the yugas in wikipedia, very interesting.

Yes, we can do this too. However America is far too divided and deprived of facts or methods to create informed and tested opinions.

It is called Article V

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

It is mandated in the Declaration of Independence.


--That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
