With the clean up of trolls and people that call for violence. This nonsense has to stop. We are literally getting bombarded with anti-semites and racist dick heads. And the odd thing is, it's not coming from the tea party either.

This site does need that badly, or else I think it should just be closed. I can't imagine what newcomers must think when they see this site.

Well, I started burning time here when someone on Facebook was quoting this forum as "proof" of something asinine about OWS. So, it's not good PR.

I would gladly volunteer as well. This movement needs to spur ideas, not flame wars.

Could I get clarification about this forum? It is pointed out, in the about section, that this is an unofficial forum, yet there is language that seems to indicate that this forum is, in point of fact, tied directly to the NYC General Assembly. You refer to a peoples assembly..."We call ours the NYC General Assembly..." referring to the NYC General Assembly on the NYCGA link, yes? Does this forum have direct ties to the NYC General Assemby or not? You do have a direct link to the NYC General Assembly website. I keep hearing that this is not OWS, so as to excuse the racist, sexist, anti-Semetic, Socialist, anti rich, anti Government, anti-bank commentary, on this forum and what not, but in the about section, for this forum, it clearly states that... "We call ours the NYC General Assembly... "...hmm...any thoughts?

You have to be careful with moderating the forums. The moderaters could get out of control and delete everything they do not agree with politically.

That would be a big PR problem.

I'm very apolitical. I just want to be on troll patrol thats all. If its constructive fine. If its Hurrr stoopid socialists! hurr call in the army and kill these hippies! that shit goes. they can cry censorship all they want. if you can't follow the basic rules of human decency then they can piss off.

There is no such thing as "apolitical".

You are involved in political movement. It was your personal politics that attracted you to the movement.

The term "apolitical" is only used by liars within a movement that is political at it's core.

I would join a moderation team! It is not about censorship but to organice this forum ... it needs it! to many people open to many threads with no message or statement! Here is no discussion ... none what so ever! It is actually very annoying :-(

Let the trolls post. We can call them out on our own. Its not hard to do and we help their comments to a early death.

[-] 1 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

its too damned much, there are too many of them. this inactive bullshit needs to stop. this forum(which is supposedly the place where we all congregate) is going to shit.

Hence,Then we should be out in the streets protesting instead of chasing after trolls. That's where we can make a difference :~)

Over and Out!

I can't disagree with that.

we try

it would be easier to move them into subforums

Be careful. If we moderate too restrictedly the trolls will us that as away to show how undemocratic we are and how this proves we are in cahoots with whatever -ism they want. Freedom of speech is ugly. If we want freedom it is freedom for all, not just what we want to hear. But I do agree that moderating the form is necessary, if for anything at all, to organize the development of the speech to unite it under a common idea to bring the changes we so desperately need.

Think of this board as wallstreet. Right now, our rules are damn near non-existent and everything is spiraling out of control. Now if we had rules in place, despite the whining of the trolls that don't come here to at least constructively criticize us,but rather, to just deliberately fuck with us,this boards quality would improve dramatically. Just relate our board problem with the problems we are facing now. Its essentially the same thing.

many times i find that the people who are labelled 'trolls' are actually normal folks who genuinely believe what they say.

they were just unfortunate to so happen speak to a group of folks who disagree with them
