We, as a country run mainly by businesses, can't prosper because we use other countries to manufacture goods for us. If you don't think this is true then go to a Walmart or Target and look to see where all the products are made. Our military can't even make weapons without components made in China.

I think we should insure this country against possible instability of other countries by subsidizing critical manufacturing within our own borders. We don't need to do this for everything but we can't afford to lose the ability to make things like circuit boards, steel, and other products that will make certain that we can still produce enough products to restart if a country like China fails.

If we begin to live in the streets like pond scum, as you put it, then we have lost. I don't blame Obama for this because the US has been getting sold down the river for decades now.

The BIGGEST (but not necessarily the brightest) conducted a massive 'short' on the real estate markets.

Yours Truly was there witnessing as thousands of homeowners tried increasingly to refinance while their properties over broad geographic areas devalued (ie:the San Francisco Bay Area,N.California,Oregon,Washington and Nevada) During that time the perception as the markets crumbled and more and more properties were "underwater" in their value with negative equity and many worth less than the current mortgages was of a giant tide or red carpet being pulled out from under it all effectively economically discarding the real estate industry and ALL AMERICANS as well as those in EUROPE (do not forget that the U.K. saw and is experiencing the same thing as the US.

We were all sold on "The Dream" of homeownership and were led into the property valuation run-up from 2003 to 2007/8 only to become like me an "economicallydiscardedcitizen."

Too many people, not enough money. "print more" you say?? That'll devalue it. We need some form of "population control". Other countries making our stuff for us. I'm sure some loud mouthed, ignorant jerk off will come on here and start ranting about the banks and such, but that really isn't the case. We used to make things, and now we don't. Even our iconic American products are largely made in USA(not U.S.A.) Japan. They actually renamed the territory to sell more shit here. A lot of countries are going through the same thing, and nobody knows what to do.

Obama and every other president and candidate promise change. I can promise everyone will get a pair of Japanese fighting fish if elected governor. After I get in and see just how hard it is to "change" things, all of that goes out the door.

I went to the mall a couple days ago. It was jammed. the Apple store had about 300 people buying stuff. Lots and lots of 99%ers are out shopping and having fun.

If you designed and planned your life right, you are prospering. If you have a hard science degree, a rigorous type degree, you will be a success. If you learn a good trade, you will be a success. If you get a government job you will really be a success.

If you are a union worker in a manufacturing field, good luck. If you have a degree in history instead of hard rock mining, good luck. If you want to work in an oil field with a high school degree, you will be rich. If you want to live in LA or NY or Chicago, and you didnt study in a rigorous field, kiss the good life good bye.
