Forum Post: I met directly with a member of Congress 2days ago on a matter unrelated to the movement. However, the Congressman brought up the subject of Occupy Wall Street. Members of Congress are absolutely terrified that ranks of OCCUPY DC are going to swell

To the brave people Occupying DC and the good people around the nation and the world occupying.....Please consider the following course of action in the future when the time is right and the General Assemblies duly authorize. Shouldn't be acted on unless General Assemblies approve. 8 specific demands that are actionable and will make a difference PLUS tactics to ensure successful outcome. This is one way to do DC right! http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-demands-please-help-editadd-so-th/

OBVIOUSLY we need to continue to grow the movement right now so the above item is appropriate once that additional growth has taken place. We need to spend time right now discovering what we have in common so we can grow the number of supporters. Once we realize we are the 99%, it will be clear how absurd it is that te 1% have ruled over and exploited the 99% for so long. At that point we'll be making decisions from a position of unified power.

That said, it doesn't hurt to look down the road to consider strategy. My view is that an emboldened 99% could pull this off as a first wave of action, the first of dozens of waves. This gets specific: http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-demands-please-help-editadd-so-th/

He should be scared.

MSNBC has the protest pepper spray attacks on their front page. The media is listening.

Huge tactical mistake by 1% to crack down on protests. Now we will grow to 10 times our size and soon we will be on the steps of the Capitol, 200,000, 300,000 of us. Stay tuned...

Morning Joe even showed the footage from Oakland and Scarborough was sympathetic.

We should ask members of Congress what they think about Oakland police shooting marine in the head with tear gas canister fracturing his skull and what they think about police firing tear gas at disabled man in wheel chair.

Watch this. Unbelievable. very short 1 minute and 20 second video clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZLyUK0t0vQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

How the hell do you explain this??? This marine did two tours in Iraq and now you're shooting him in the head with tear gas canister and fracturing his skull while he's protesting peacefully???

It's time to double our efforts, double our support and strengthen the occupations all around the nation. If you are not occupying, please contact someone who is and ask them how you can give support! Crucial time in the movement. Time for a big push on all fronts.

It's time to rise.

Everyone who is reading this, please send to ten people and ask them to do the same. We're hitting a tipping point and it's time to push this to the next level. We need to be non-violent. We need to be active. We need to resist. We need to be kind. We need to be organized.

This is our time. As Rastafarian poet Bongo Jerry said, Nothing, I mean NOTHING can stop this force of a river that knows its course.

It's time to grow our ranks and then mobilize.

Let's do this.

Let the world know that America, the SO CALLED LAND OF THE FREE, is now officially unveiled as a TOTALITARIAN REGIME IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA AND OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA!!! Tear gas and stun grenades used in Oakland overnight!!! Vicious removal of the 99% in Atlanta!!! Spread the word! A call to all free citizens of the world to boycott TOTALITARIAN AMERICA!!! Let the world know that the blood of the 99% in Oakland and Atlanta will only add fuel to our Great Movement!!!

We need to focus our energy on convincing the police to stand down, like in Albany. The more officers that refuse to follow illegal orders to break up legal protest, the less power they have. The police are the 99%. it is our job and responsibility to wake them to this truth. A people united will never be defeated.

And this is just the beginning. It will get much more intense as we strike the nerves in D.C. and Wall Street. Many OWS supporters will bail out when the going gets rough....BUT SOME WILL FORGE AHEAD. When the smoke clears only a few heroes will be seen standing. And those that bailed will come back to help the Phoenix rise from the ashes....and that is fine.

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 13 years ago

We need non-violent direct action. We need to study our Gandhi and King and see how they and their supporters wielded the powerful force of non-violent tactics.

I was shocked when I saw how much overkill the Oakland police engaged in.

The irony is that it will increase the number of demonstrators.

You are welcome.

OWS should lose its slogan "we are our demands" and actually set forth a list of real demands. Elected officials in Washington will not do a damn thing unless they know exactly what you want. Even when #OWS does state its demands, Washington may still not act. That's what politicians usually do unless they see money or some other personal benefit. Pay-to-play rules and won't go away that easy. Wall Street knows that game and has a big advantage. At least, for the time being.
